Gift for classmates when moving?

Hi all, we are getting ready to move in a few weeks, and I wanted to give my DD5's clasmates a gift and note from her. Does that sound normal? This is our first move in school (kindergarten) and she is a bit upset that we are leaving her friends.
I was thinking of making crayon rollups for each child, along with a note, with her webkinz and beanie babies ID's, and maybe mommy's myspace page, so they can keep in touch.

Hi! That is so sweet of you to think of your DD's classmates as you prepare to move.

I teach 1st grade & will tell you though, as harsh as it sounds, that at this age it is pretty much.....out of sight, out of mind. I would mainly try to keep in touch with any students that she may have been close with, and by "close" I mean that you had playdates together outside of school.

But the children who were just classmates, most of their parents will see your good-bye note with addresses & think that is a little over the top. I would not expect them to try & keep in touch. The good-bye note alone would be fine.

I wish your DD well in her new school. At this age, and esp. this time of the year, new students join in very easily!

When we moved last year we only exchanged email with the teacher and she then would share with the class. It was nice to keep in touch that way and the kids enjoyed sending pictures back and forth for about 4 or 5 months. Then it all just sorta stopped, on both sides. My daughter keeps in touch with her VERY best friend and we try to get together at least every few weeks (we live about 1 1/2 hours away). But for the last day, we sent cupcakes for her to share. Will it be hard...YES! But my DS was a Kinder and he really just made new friends pretty quick, a lot sooner than my 3rd grader did!


But...to answer your question...I think any gesture would be nice...
