My daughter started kindergarten and is going to her first birthday party for one of her classmates. The little girl is turning 6. What can I get her? I don't know her at all so I have no idea what she likes.

:confused3what does your daughter like? wouldn't that be a good place to start?
I have boys so I am no help.

Art supplies & walmart has a great selections DD got one of those multi color pens had 8 different colors & it was a princess one to boot, that was the big hit for that year. Or Littlest Pet shop stuff.

My DD is turing 6 on Sunday!!! Depending on what your budget is with a 6 year old girl you can be safe with: Barbies, My Little Ponies, Littlest Pet Shop, Craft type things (markers, crayons, jewelry maker set), Hannah Montana, Zhu Zhu Pets....

We usually spend $20 - $40 on gifts for others birthdays that my DD goes too... I usually find GREAT deals on clearence items and have always had the gifts very well recv'd by the Child and the parent...

Have fun...

Zhu Zhu pets, Pixos/chixos, or Aqua Sand are big gifts around here. They don't break the bank either. I have a six and eight year old, and they would also still be happy with Littlest Pet Shops.

My usual gift for a child I didn't know well was cool jammies/slippers, or a bathing suit/flip flops or towel. My dd7 (just turned) wanted me to tell grandma she wanted Littlest Petshop (my mom asked), but since my mom (nor I ;)) know what ones she has, I told her I wasn't going to suggest that.

At this point, we average about 6 parties a month, so I bought a stack of $20 Target gc's and little gift bags. However, for close friends, I buy actual gifts.

I can't really go by my daughter. She always seems to be interested in boy toys. Superheroes, transformers, etc.

Zhu zhu pets ($8-10), Barbies, Disney Fairies dolls (about $10), craft kits (beads, jewelry - can get great sets with a Michael's or A C Moore coupon), Webkinz (Target has Little Kinz for 4.99 and the full size for about $10), outside toys (depending where you are), Littlest Pet Shop

I always give gift cards to Borders.

They have books, puzzles, movies, cd's, some craft kits, GREAT discounted area...magazines...journals and funky pens. Giant cookies in the coffee shop area.

Ours also has some stuffed animals, coloring and sticker books...posters
