I need to buy a gift for a friend's daughter. I'm at a little bit of a loss. May have an idea, but, need more. I need to spend $20-$25. She is not into hoodies so much, I don't want to get her make-up (I feel like her mother should be the one to make decisions about that). she likes all the twilight stuff...but she already has a lot of it. She likes to read.

My idea is to buy her a journal...but where to get a nice one that a teen girl would like...and what to go with it to bring it up to $25?

Or...any other suggestions are welcome...I need some guidance, my kids are much younger, so I'm not sure what would be appreciated.

I have a sophomore girl (15), she has on her list Just Dance for Wii, Karaoke for Wii, speakers for her IPod and gift cards to the movie theater, Startbucks, Target, Aerie and American Eagle. Unless you know she journals, I would not get her one. If you know she journals, add a Barnes and Nobel Gift card to that.

Itunes gift card? Mall gift card?...Even a Starbucks gift card. My daughter loved those things at that age.

I have an almost 14 year old high school girl. I agree with golfgal about the journal. They sound like a nice idea but no one really writes in them.

Maybe magnetic bookmarks (if she still reads mostly on paper and not kindle or some other e-reader), a book light, etc. You could pull together a nice readers basket (have a card that says "for when you want to curl up with a goo book") with a fleece blanket, bookmarks, a gift card, mug with hot cocoa mix in it, etc.

Claire's gift card, they are full of twilight stuff and just about anything else a girl this age might like. When I bring my daughter and her friends to the mall (DD is almost 12 but her friends run through 14) the girls are drawn to that store like magnets.

My DD is 15.
With a $25 budget, I'd look into: warm slippers, argyle socks, scarves to wear with outfits (not outdoor keep warm ones), earrings, Snuggie, soft throw blanket, fun pens, photo album.

I would not advise getting a journal. My DD has had a few given to her and she has never really used them. Unless you know she journals, it might not be a hit.

I'd avoid the journal also. I have a DD 18 so a bit older but even tho she loved to write she never journaled.

The above mentioned things are good, also bath and body stuff, soft socks, big pillow, Sleep pants, Lip gloss stuff, my DD did and still loves the Burts Bees stuff-in fact Target has a nice set with a small make-up type bag and some different things that she liked when she saw it. Nail polish stuff. different teas, coffees or hot chocolate.

You could get anything from the above list and put it with a gift card from any of the ones mentioned or Pac Sun, Dehlias, or Hot Topic,

It is actually a pretty easy age to buy for, harder is a year or two younger!

My DD14 loves gift cards. She has also reached the age where I have allowed her to be dropped off at the mall a couple of times, and she likes having gift cards she can spend herself.

On her Christmas list: iTunes gift cards, also gift card from places like Starbucks, Cold Stone Creamery, Aeropostle, Books a Million, and even Wal Mart.

She loves books, and she likes her booklight and she likes bookmarks. She doesn't journal, though, although she does have one. Fun pens are a great idea, though. She loves gel pens.

She is allowed to wear make-up, but chooses not to wear much. She does love painting her nails; I think she asks me for a new color of polish every time we're in the store - lol. A manicure set with several bottles of polish would be something she would like, or a gift cert for a mani or pedi. She loves going for those, but we only do them for special occasions. Pedi's are $25 around here. It's fun, though. :)

She loves Claire's. Earrings, belts, purses, etc. Anything like that. :thumbsup2

Dd14 wants gc's and a book light. She also loves VS lounge pants and flannel jammies (she's 5'4", 120, and wears a small there).

Old Navy is a good spot for cute, comfy, affordable jammie sets/slippers. Also really cute and affordable scarf and hat sets.

My DD always liked DVD's at that age, you could add some popcorn or movie box candy and make a cute gift.

Bath and Bodyworks lotions, gels etc.. always a popular gift with teen girls. They free gift wrap in cute cello bags with checked ribbons and a tag too!

My DD is the same age and would love a gift card to Amazon. They offer free shipping for purchases of $25 so she could buy a book and my DD also does downloads for her ipod from there so she could buy anything.

If the girl seems to care about her appearance or 'look', then maybe some accessories like scarves (more for show than warmth), belts, or fashion stuff.

My 14 yr old dd LOVES Itunes gift cards. She likes Target too, but she buys a lot of music on Itunes. Movie or Dairy Queen are good gift cards too.

My dd is 13 and loves gift cards. She and her friends love to walk over to the nearest Starbucks, Jamba Juice or Cold Stone for a snack, or get dropped off at the mall to shop or get something to eat.

Unless you know her tastes well, and know that she's not particular, I wouldn't attempt to buy clothing or accessories for that age group. Most of the girls I know want to be independant and even if they like an item, they will suddenly dislike it if they find out an adult picked it out. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Pretty much.:lmao:

Now I did get my dd 5 hoodies and a hoodie jacket on black friday but that is because she is FINALLY wearing "hoodies" from AE/Aerie. Yes, my dd is wearing long sleeves for the winter. Got a great deal with a coupon.

This is so true! Anything I point out to her is butt-ugly. Thankfully, we are finally past the point where she HAS to have a friend come shopping with her, to approve clothing.

My DD14 loves to go see movies at the theater and she loves her iTouch. So this year she will get an iTunes gift card for $25. You could either do that or a movie theater gift card, or an Amazon gift card would work as well. Most kids at this age like gift cards, then they can get their own gifts.
