Gift Cards For Tips

I read that people use GC at the desk to pay off the room charges via magic bands but is it possible to just use a GC at table services to pay off any extra items and Tip (Using DDP)?

You can but it will be more complicated and you'll surely end up with odd amounts left on your gift cards. It is so much easier to charge it to your room and then pay off the room charges with the gift cards. That way instead of having $10 here, $8 there, $20 there, you'll be able to do it all at once. And you won't have a much of cards with $1, $2 left on them. Because you won't be able to tip with a bunch of small amounts on a bunch of cards, if that makes sense.

Plus, a lost card is a card gone. Leave them in your room till you are ready to pay off the room. Safer

I only have 1 card with 500$ on it. So the odd numbers really won't matter. If I don't mind taking the risk of losing it and Pennys lost than I would be ok yea?

Yes. It'll work.

You can mitigate the risk AngiTN mentions by buying a secondary gift card with say $25 on it. Go to the Disney giftcard site and create an account. Then in the manage cards section, add both of your cards to your account. You'll not only see the balances of both, but you can transfer funds from one to another. Transfer the $25 to the other card. Should you lose the one with the money on it, it takes less than a minute to move those funds to the backup card.

Sure. Just as long as that $500 card and at least one other card are both registered on the site. You can register up to 5.

We used Gift Cards to pay for pretty much everything we could last year. We were staying offsite, so we used the gift cards to pay for parking, dining, souvenirs. We did have one morning when the gift card wouldn't work at the toll both entering the parking lot. They can't be used to pay for valet parking at the resorts, some of the merchandise carts, and I believe there was one table service meal where they couldn't get it to work, even though we had like $700 on the card, and were paying under $200. So, gift cards work well, just be sure to have a credit card, debit card, or some cash with you just in case you run into a situation where the gift card doesn't work.
