Gift cards for room charges

I've received conflicting info about whether or not I can pay my room charges off with gift cards. Anyone have a recent experience in doing that?

Disney will take your money no matter what except personal check. Gift cards are fine.

Just make sure to keep your cards if you have to cancel your ressie. They have to load the money back on the specific card, not just give you a refund.

By room charges do you mean that you put on your KTTW card during your trip? If so, yes - you can definately do that. Just go down to the front desk at your resort and they will apply them to your bill.

It should be clarified it can only be done before you hit your limit for your resort. Your cc. Will automatically be charged when you reach your limit.

We always put a CC on our room - but I am just curious - I know you don't have to put one on file - what happens then? How do they handle your KTTW card if you don't? Do they not allow charging with it?

Correct. You can't charge to the card unless you have a credit or debit card connected with it.

I've done both.

Paying for room reservation w/gift cards- Yes. If you want to use multiple gift cards, you have to call disney. Online will only accept one gift card at a time.

Paying charges on your KTTW card- Yes. You will have to link a credit card or debit card in order to charge. Just make sure you take the gift cards down to pay the night before you check out so they do charge your credit card. Even if they do, they can credit your card back. This happened to us, but we had to wait a few days for our card to be credited back.

Just to clarify, you can do this with Disney gift cards (to which I assume you are referring), but you cannot do that with generic Visa gift cards. We had several that we planned on using, but the resort front desks do not always accept them. They said its very hit or miss whether the computer will recognize them, so you shouldn't count on using them at the front desk, but you can use them in the parks and restaurants.
