We are coming up on the season for dues. How do you use gift cards for payments? Do you put the card number in one at a time or do you use the gift card web site to transfer all the money to a few cards? TIA

It's easier to consolidate into a few cards first. Each card has a limit of $1,000, so depending on how many points you own, you may just need to input 1 or 2 cards on the DVC site.

Just got a Target credit card for this purpose. Anyone know if Target does an additional 5% (total 10% discount) before year end? I saw I just missed one in September.

THANK YOU for the reply! I would have been waiting breathlessly then disappointed!

**Edit** Looks like the sale is over now at BJ's. Back to the usual 4%.

If you're looking to stock up on GCs for dues, check out BJ's Wholesale Club. They are doing a decent online sale on Disney GCs...around 8%. Right now, they are doing a promo and letting nonmembers shop in case you're not a member. If you have Chase Freedom, wholesale clubs is a 5% category this quarter.

We buy ours at Kroger for the fuel points.
This is what we do also. We buy each April with our Chase Freedom to get 5% cashback. With that and the 4x fuel points e-coupon, we save 19%! So last April, I bought enough to pay off 2018 dues plus enough for the first three months of 2019. Then in April 2019, I'll buy enough for the rest of that year and the first three months of 2020 and so on. I just hope Chase Freedom keeps doing the 5% cashback on groceries!

Sounds like we need to get Chase Freedom! We have Chase Disney visa.

We used to use Chase Disney visa, but then we figured that with the Chase Freedom, we can get 5% back on different things throughout the year and get cash instead. There were a couple of years we didn't go to Disney, so the cash was nice to use for different trips. But now we use the cash to buy Disney GCs. Such a better deal!

Last year they had it on black Friday. $300 max on the deal though, but every little bit helps!

The extra 5% does not work on giftcards.

It did last year, unless something has changed.

I think you’re thinking of a different sale than I am. With the redcard, they will send you an extra 5%...maybe even 10% (can’t remember exact number) coupon that can be used in conjunction with the regular redcard 5% discount on your redcard anniversary. That coupon also popped up randomly on my target app a few weeks ago. This extra percentage won’t work on GCs.

Maybe you’re thinking of Target’s annual sale on Target giftcards around Black Friday. People were buying those discounted target GCs to buy Disney GCs. That no longer works because Target no longer lets you buy any type of GC with a GC in store.

I see, that makes sense. All these "extra 5%'s" are making my old brain confused. Yes I was thinking about black Friday 10% sale on gift cards. It's too bad you have to waste the physical cards to make use of it but it is what it is. For the rest I just buy the e-giftcards online.

When did this policy change on GC for GC in store? I know I did it last year for the $300 ..

EDIT: Looks like last June it was added to the T&C. Thanks for the heads up!
