are there any places or things you can't use the gift card for?

You don't receive it until you check in, so you can't use it on the actual cost of the package for your trip.

You CAN, however, use it to upgrade the 5 day base ticket to more days, add the park hopper, or add the water park & more option. You can use it to pay for meals if you opt to NOT get a dining plan. You can put it on the room like a ccard & charge back to it via your KTTW card. You can pay for tips & extras if you ARE on a dining plan. You can buy STUFF . You can also hold on to it, and use it for future Disney trips (including a deposit if you were to book a bounceback while still at WDW).

There is no expiration on it, so don't feel like you need to spend all of it while you are on your vacation (unless of course you want to do that!).

It is good anywhere the Disney Gift Cards are excepted (so maybe a few places in DTD won't take it, but I'm not sure which ones). You can also use it online at the Disney Store.
