At my local HEB, you can buy $100 worth of gift cards for $80. There are some exclusions (like HEB and Visa cards), but you can buy DISNEY GIFT CARDS. I'm not sure if all HEB's are running the same special, but it's worth checking...especially if you have an upcoming WDW trip planned.

(btw.....HEB is a chain of grocery stores in Texas.)

***SINCE POSTING THIS I'VE HEARD THAT THE HOUSTON LOCATIONS HAVE DISCONTINUED THIS SPECIAL (maybe other locations have as well)******

Here everything's better!
Too bad they aren't national!!

Thats an awesome deal! I need to get 800.00 worth of disney gift cards and this will save me 160.00!!! Thanks OP!

I wonder if you can use these to pay off your vacation package? My balance is roughly $4100. It may be a pain but if I can figure out a way to pay it off with these gift cards I'd save over $800! :thumbsup2

Which store did you go to? I would love to call them & purchase $1500 to pay for my DDP! Are there any restrictions? Can these be used at WDW to pay for the dining plan?

I just called my HEB and was told that it's just a rumor that was put on FB and Twitter.

I actually used the in-store coupon at my HEB on Tuesday. DH went back today and bought a $100 Lowe's card for $80. However, it sounds like the special isn't running at all the HEB's.

I sent you a pm with the phone number.

The coupon says:

Good 3/13/11 to 3/19/11
$20 off $100 or more of Gift Cards
Disclaimer: Exclude HEB gift cards, VISA, Mastercard and American Express gift cards, prepaid wirelss, phone cards and reloadable debit cards.

*Limit one Coupon per purchase of product indicated
*Coupon may not be mechanically reproduced, doubled or combined with any other offer

Based on the last restriction, my guess is they won't do it over the phone, but it can't hurt to try. Also, you would have to do it with 15 purchases. One other potential problem is they may only have a limited number of Disney gift cards available.

Your welcome! Sounds like not all of the HEB's are running the special...hope your HEB is.

As always with things like this you get different stories from different managers. I called another HEB and was told it was discontinued in the Houston area. I'm sure if I call another one they will tell me something different.

I've talked to 5 HEBs all have told me something different. 1-It was a rumor 2-it was discontinued in the Houston area 3-the coupons expired yesterday. 4-Have them. you can only use 1 coupon per person. 5-they ran out of gift cards.

Thanks for letting us know! I edited my original post to include this information. It doesn't surprise me that it was discontinued since it's such a great deal.

Anytime, although that manager wasn't correct either. I talked to 5 different HEBs all told me someting different.:confused3

After reading the OP's post I went to my local HEB pantry and bought 22 $100gift cards. They had to ring up each transaction separately and they kept apologizing to me that they had to do it this way. All I was thinking was that this just saved me $440 :woohoo:

This was in a suburb of Houston and they had plenty of Disney gift cards and the coupon needed to get them. BTW the coupon said it was good from 3/13/11 - 3/19/11. I did not call the store first, I just went in and like I said they were happy to sell me as many cards as I wanted.

So OP, thank you :worship: thank you :worship: thank you :worship:

I went shopping for groceries this evening and as I was passing the gift card display when something caught my eye. I got closer and saw the $20 off coupon for a $100 gift card mentioned by the OP. So I got a $100 gift card and asked to speak with a manager to verify I was reading the coupon correctly. Manager said "yes, you get a $100 diney gift card for $80.. that's a great deal Ma'am". Paid for one and went back and got 2 more.. so I paid $240 for $300 in gift cards. Plan and going back tomorrow and getting a couple more for my upcoming trip in October:cool1: I already called my bestfriend in Austin, TX to let her in on the deal and she will be checking her local stores.:)
