Gift Card problem--need ideas....

so my DH went to Starbucks to get gift cards for his employees. He came back with just the cards--no envelopes. They were out apparently. Now, I think this is unacceptable and I wouldn't have purchased the gift cards. I would have gone to Panera. So now my DH is stuck with 10 gift cards and nothing to put them in. I don't want to go out again and get 10 greeting cards--nor should I have to pay for them when Starbucks should have given them for free. Is it ok to just hand out gift cards "naked". Any other ideas?

You could get one of those economy boxes of holiday cards from Walmart (20 for like $3.88). Or try another Starbucks (show them the receipt)... there are at least 3 in a 2 mile radius of my house... one of them might still have envelopes.

You could go buy some of those cheap, small stockings and stick them in there.

A few ideas:

1)Use some heavy scrapbook paper, cut down to size, cut in two slots, stick in the gift card, and decorate the outside with markers and stickers.

2)If you have some candy canes in the house, tape them onto the cards.

3)Stick a bow on them.

4)If you have the ingredients for rice crispie treats, make them, cut to size, wrap in plastic wrap, tape the cards on, and tie on a ribbon.

Thanks, crisis averted. I remembered I had a bunch of leftover photocards. :cool1:

Nice to hear that you found a way out! :thumbsup2

As someone who works in retail and has been going through gift cards like crazy lately, don't blame the individual stores for running out of envelopes. The gift cards and envelopes are not shipped to the stores together and sometimes you run out of one or the other. We have little cards that our gift cards slip into and last week we ran out of those. We did still have envelopes, but the envelopes are bigger than the cards and they looked silly.

If I were to receive a gift card without an envelope, I wouldn't even notice. I'd just be happy about getting the gift itself. There are so many ways to package them these days that the envelopes almost aren't necessary in most cases.

Only if you know the employees really well.

Where I live the local Giant Eagle sells all kinds of gift cards (including Star Bucks) and they NEVER have any envelopes. I always give naked gift cards!
