Gift Card for Mobile Ordering?

I think I read a while back that you could not use gift cards when placing mobile orders at quick service restaurants. Does anyone know if this is still true? We aren't travelling until January 2019 and I plan to use gift cards I have accrued through the years to pay for most of our dining. Thanks!
