We went to Target and they told us the 5% on the red card only helps with Gift Card activation fees.
How much is the gift card activation fee on Disney Gift Cards?

I never heard of such a thing. When you buy Disney Gift Cards at Target using the Red Card, it just takes 5% off the price.

Some Target cashiers (and managers) don't understand the process. Usually you just take them up to the cash register and check out as usual. The 5% comes off the bill.

Not true. You can purchase them in the store for the actual card or online at their website and if you use the Red Card, you get the 5% off. I've saved thousands of dollars doing this.

I wonder if it works the same if you're using a debit card?

That's the one we have. To make it easier, I purchase the gift cards online and have them emailed. Makes it easier to keep track of the 16 digit codes by copying into a file vs a humongous stack of cards

We live in an apartment complex, will the cards fit into our small mailbox (About the size of a PO box) or do you think the would get delivered to our leasing office where bigger packages go? Also, we are getting a 40 dollar deal for signing up for Red Card - can we use that online?

I don't get the physical cards. If you get the email option, you'll get a link to their card site that has the 16 digit 'card' number that you can put into the DCL site to pay or call and read it over the phone to put on account. Massively easy.

I've not purchased a real card online from Target, but did at BJs when they had a sale and had no problem getting it into our mailbox.

I'm not sure about the $40 dollar deal. You can try, I guess.

Thank you so much!

When I have ordered gift cards from target they have always arrived in a large, sturdy envelope that didn’t fit in our mailbox. They were delivered to the front office.

I finally applied for a Redcard on July 4th after so many years and I miss that great deal by 10 days.....ugh just my luck.
My daughter would get us the gift cards with her redcard in the past.

Visa, MC, Amex have activation fees when purchasing them. Specific location gift cars such as Disney, Restaurant gift cards, etc. do not. Maybe they were referring to those major credit card ones.

I’ve just learned about the Target deal back in the spring. My DH and I just retired from teaching and the word got out that we’d appreciate Disney gift cards. AND I WENT TO Target to get $1400 to pay off our Oct cruise. They only had $100. I had to get 14 $100 cards! I actually tried to pay it off on the DCL website with the 14 cards. One glitched. I called Disney Gift Cards #. They showed it had gone to DCL. BUT DCL said it didn’t go through. Well DGC and DCL worked it out - it took over a week but we got the $100 credited.

But then I learned about the Disney Gift Card site to manage cards and keep track. 🤔.
I combined our teacher gifts in the website and then ordered enough additional “cards” from Target which came as ecards and added them on the website to buy two APs.

Issues with site - max on one card $1000; 5-card max
And you can’t use the cards like Apple Pay. Still have to have a 16 digit card number(s).

But I am really enjoying this website. Just got a $500 ecard to go towards a WDW trip we have in Sept. And I’m planning to have enough for all the onboard spending for our cruise.

Before Disney had the gift card web site, I brought a big pile of gift cards to pay for excursions on board. Seems that the airport xray machine didn't like the big pile of plastic (like 20 cards!) and I got pulled out so TSA could dig through my bag to see what it was. They all laughed at the pile of cards. Now we just use the e-mail type of gift cards and only carry one actual card. At Aulani and DL, we can even just buy the gift cards online the night before we need them depending on how much we spend each day.
