Gift Budget

For those of you in Massachusetts ( I know cost of living varies quite a bit) what do you give as a normal wedding gift of cash? I have a wedding coming up, and I not sure what is appropriate. Some people are saying "cover your plate" others are saying a set amount. I think I am going to skip the wedding. I may not even send a gift at all, lol, since they didn't invite my sister which sort of offended us both.

I'd give $300 but more if it was a close friend or family member. I'm in CT.

We had a family member get married last year. We gave $250. If I wasn't going to the wedding, I would send $100. You don't have to send a gift when you aren't attending.
