I know I've heard that some people have ordered baskets ahead of time, and then they are at the resort waiting when you get to your room. Who can you order through, and if anyone has any pics, I would love :lovestruc to see them! I think it would be a great suprise for my kids!!! TIA

Check out this site. www.memoriesbybetsy.com
I haven't tried it, but did find this site before our trip last year. Maybe you can get some more feedback for both of us. I would like to give it a try when we go back in 8/09.

www.peggyssweetsandmore. Many people like Peggy's baskets. She is Feralpeg on the boards.

They most likely will not put them in the room until you are checked in. The room could be assigned to someone else and you wouldn't get your basket.

I actually made them myself...and I'm not crafty :rotfl2:

I bought the red reusable Mickey tote bags from the Disney store and stuffed each one with toys and disney related stuff I've found over the past few months. I'm shipping them down Thursday, exactly one week from my checkin date. I also bought a Mickey Mouse clubhouse table cloth to decorate the table when I put the bags on them.

I found it was just easier doing it myself and knowing exactly what to put into each child's bag. Plus I found everything on sale!

The resort doesn't mind holding them until you check in? I would love to make my own & mail them, but I'm afraid that I wouldn't allow it time to get there (you know how slow the mail can be at times). Plus my kids are older and they will know that I sent them ahead if they see a box from Texas, lol.

I definitely want to make each of the kids a gift basket and have it sent "from Mickey" since this will be our very first trip to Disney ..... just trying to decide whether to do it myself or let someone else.

I love the fact that Memoriesbybetsy will let you mail things to incorporate into the basket as well. That way I can pick out a few things myself, and let her get the things that I can't (like personalized Mouse Ears).

Who all has done this before? What kind of items do you put in your basket? I was thinking Mouse Ears, disposable camera, small photo book, autograph book with pen ..... looking for a few other ideas.

I ship them UPS exactly one week from my arrival date (actually, tomorrow I'm shipping them!). I use UPS 5 day ground it's usually $15 per box and get's to FL from NY in 3 days. The resort holds the boxes for me in the luggage room.

I'm going to have the boxes delivered to the room while DH takes the boys to the arcade so I can set up the giftbags to appear Mickey delivered them. :)

I am actually doing something similiar as well. Instead of shipping it I have everything packed in my carryon and will go up to the room and put it together while DH has the kids in the arcade. I found it was alot less expensive for me to do it myself than to order one. I am using boxes I got at a paper store that will fold down in the carryon.

Their boxes will each have a plush character, some Disney branded candy, candy bars with Disney personalized wrappers that I got from the DISign board, M&M tubes filled with pennies and quarters that have a personalized wrapper on it for making pennies (DISign board), some Disney dollars, and then they each have a light spinner thing that I got on clearance at the Disney store. It's not a ton of things but they will love it I am sure!

I also got a Welcome to Disney letter from the DISign board that is too cute.

I just liked the thought of doing it myself and then saving the $$$$ was a bonus!!!

I just got my picture of my daughter's gift basket from Betsy (she sends you a picture after she finishes the basket, when she sends the bill. We are arriving on August 24 by plane and headed that night to a character dinner, so I had her pack the basket with an autograph book, fat pen, Mickey Starter pin lanyard, Disney fanny pack and the light-up years (personalized of course!). The basket is beautiful and she charges the cost of the items plus a flat fee for her time, basket making, and delivery! It was definitely worth the money for me not to have to run around and find these things before our dinner reservation at 1900 Park Fare. My daughter saw the light-up ears and they were a must-Betsy not only got me the ears, but she went and had the personalized for me! The thought of not having to waste precious Disney Time running around for these things was definitely worth the $$$. I looked at disneyflorist, but when you add on the delivery charge-I thought they were outrageous and had very few options! Betsy is great to talk to and her cost is not much more than what some of you are paying for UPS shipping! I know the items are costly, but they are genuine Disney Park items so I expect the high price tag.

I had planned on making my own and sending them down, but after reading about the OP who is going to use her carryon I think I may try that. I have collapsible treasure chests and a fabric Tink basket that can lay flat. I have purchased a ton of stuff because I was so excited to go, but I have way too much. I got tons pf stuff at the $ store.
I got each kid a messenger bag for the plane and I'm going to fill them with Disney themed coloring books, crayons, reading books and video games.
So for the arrival basket I'll just put in the practical stuff like the shirts, bathing suits, beach towels, autograph books and trading pins.
All the rest of the little toys I think I'll give to them when we start counting down the days to our trip.

If you check out the links there are examples of the gift baskets that you could have sent. With three kids, they were too pricey for me but they really looked nice.

I'm planning on calling upon Betsey for our July trip. According to her website you can mail her things to include in the basket in addition to anything she gets on property.

We will be there for dd's 7th birthday so we are getting her a My Disney Girl doll and a couple other small things from WDW... and I'm sending a Cinderella tiara, a stuffed birthday Mickey Mouse, birthday cards from various family members, and a couple of other small things to round out the basket.

Definitely worth it IMO... I hauled our stuff in my carry on last trip and don't want to do it again!

I bought all Disney items for my gift bags. I bought stuff on sale at the World of Disney in NYC, Disney Store at the mall and Disney Shopping online.

My boys are young and are more into the toys. I bought some Little Einstein toys deeply discounted at the Disney Store for my DS1 and for my DS4 a Mack truck with Lightening McQueen shooting out the back when you hit a button. It was originally $30, I got it for $12 online at the Disney Outlet. Those are their "main toys" then I added a bunch of smaller stuff. Cars, balls, etc... I can't remember I did it months ago and the box has been sealed ready to be shipped for a while now!

Also, we've been to WDW many many times. My boys have the hats, light spinners, autograph books, etc.... I wanted to make a gift bag with fun toys they'd enjoy and not hound us to buy stuff there - like they always do!

I'm also leaving good night treats from "Mickey" on their pillows. I bought Mickey Mouse Clubhouse goody bags and filled one for each night with a small treat: candy, match box car, toy camera, toy phone, etc... I made stickers in Disney Font addressing the bags to each boy from "Your Pal, Mickey Mouse". I'm hoping to catch the turndown housekeeper to inform her to leave the bags on the pillows after she turnsdown the beds.

I also made postcards inviting the boys to the character meals.

On our second to last day, the boys will get a postcard from Mickey and an envelope with Disney Dollars instructing them they could buy whatever they want in DTD as long as they have enough money!

Oh, I also shipped down beach toys and plan to just leave them in the closet for the next guest. I'm not shelping home beach toys!

You are all so creative, I guess I never really thought of doing it myself. I guess I'll have to hit up the dollar spot at target and the dollar store! My disney store is closing any day and there isn't much left!:(

My husband and I received a gift basket at our resort via Disney I'm pretty sure. My parents set it up for us and it was a nice little cooler with snacks inside of it along with some balloons. I don't know for sure if it was through Disney but it's worth a call to the hotel concierge.

Here's another cool site that I've ordered from and REALLY liked:

www.GoodyPak.com

They have personalized Disney drawstring backpacks in many different characters! You can get the bags full of stuff, or you can get them empty and put your OWN stuff in there! Wrap it in cellophane with a card from Mickey (or Tink) and you're good to go! :thumbsup2

And YES, they do deliver to all of the Disney Resorts!

For our first trip to Disney, I ordered from the Disney Florist. The kids LOVED them but it was very expensive for what we got in the basket.
I can't remember the price but I DO remember thinking, "I'll do it myself next time!".

For this year's trip, I started picking up stuff a month ago. I've got until November to be on the lookout for clearance priced items....not only for their welcome basket but also for a surprise in their room every afternoon.

I love this site for ideas! The Mickey tablecloth is a great touch! Details like that add so much.

I'm going to pack a suitcase with all of the items for the baskets and the surprises. Every day we're there, the kids will get a surprise when the return to the hotel in the afternoon. Their first surprise (on the day we arrive) will be their welcome baskets. We aren't going to a park that first day, just down to the restaurant for dinner. I'll quickly fill the baskets and place them as dh takes the kids down ahead of me. Every day after, we'll return midday from a park.

OK, I think I may attempt to do this myself!:goodvibes

One problem--I have a broken foot & can't drive, so any good websites I should check out? Of course I'll check out disney shopping and the disney outlet sites, but are there any others that have deals?

Another vote for Betsy! She did our basket last fall and it was awesome. She didn't seem to mind that I kept adding things. The only thing was, it was given to DH when we checked in and it wasn't in our room.

I just ordered one from Betsy, she was nice and helpful! She emailed a picture when it was completed. It will be delivered to our room and should be there at checkin!

I found the exact backpacks at a dollar store for $2! I filled them up with books, stickers, and treats for the airplane ride to WDW.
