This last weekend we went to Disney Springs for a "my recovery for my liver transplant is going relatively well) trip.

We ate dinner at Summer House one night. For dessert I had a peanut butter cookie, and the the next day, I bought another peanut butter cookie and a double chocolate cloud cookie. On prior trips to Orlando/Disney, I have had Gideon Bakehouse cookies, from both the Disney Springs location and the original location in Orlando.

I think both make good cookies but they are of two different styles. Gideon's are more cookie with various "frostings" while Summerhouse are more like "normal" cookies, just larger and thicker. If you have a Crumb'l s in your local area then Gideon's are more like that.

I do like the the Summerhouse peanut butter cookie as you can taste the peanut butter, but note it is a bit crumbly.

Just a bit of information, if you are trying to decide between the two places.

Sorry to disagree but I love Crumbl and I've had Gideon's cookies. They are nothing alike.

Correct. Not similar at all.

Per the topic, I love Gideon's but I haven't tried Summerhouse yet. I fully plan to do a taste test with both of them in November. Summerhouse's chocolate chip rice krispie treat cookie really intrigues me.

I do prefer summerhouse cookies, because I am just not a fan of eating cookie dough, and that's what gideon's cookies always make me think of, big mounds of underbaked dough.

BUT I don't think cookies are where either excel. I'd take a slice of cake from gideon's and a pastry from summerhouse all day any day over either of their cookies!

I was referring to that Crumbl cookies and Gideons often have "icing" of some type on them while Summerhouse are more like "normal" cookies.

As someone who has had cookies from all three places, my thought is that Crumbl more closely resembles the cookies of Summer House than Gideons.

Gideon's doesn't have any "icing" on their cookies that I can remember and are usually just covered in chocolate chips or topping that matches the cookie. Their cookies are also taller, thicker and slightly under baked.

Crumbl and Summer House cookies are both big but on the more traditional flat tone. Crumbl has a more variety in using loaded toppings but the Fudge Bomb, Lemon and Pink Lady cookies from Summer House are all cookies that I could see Crumbl selling.

For me, Gideons is my style of cookie and I feel most worth the 5-7 dollars one will spend on any of them. In my opinion, the Banana Bread and Coffee Cake cookies are far superior to anything Crumbl or Summer House have.

There is no icing on any of the Gideon’s cookies so I am a bit confused by the descriptions here. They have different kinds of chocolate chips or nuts on top, but no icing. The bites are covered in melted chocolate, but again, no icing.

Gideon's cookies are maybe a 8/10. Crumbl are about a 2/10 - too sweet and poor texture. They are not similar. At all. Haven't tried Summer house yet. And I don't remember Gideon's cookies ever having frosting.

We were at Disney Springs a few weeks ago and we got cookies from both places...Totally different types we actually liked Gideons a little more

While we didn't try cookies from Gideons, we did purchase 3 different flavours from the Summer House last Saturday. Oatmeal with butterscott chips cookie, a lemon cookie, and a cinnamon bun type cookie. My husband & I found them way too sweet, ate about half of each cookies, and threw the rest of them out. I was really disappointed. Yet, our daughter purchased one of their variety of broken cookie bits in a cup and she seemed to enjoy them.

My family loved Gideon's! I waited in line for an hour! Got to chat with some nice people.
We had dinner at Summerhouse and tried cookies from there and we also liked them. I also got the almond croissant for the flight home and it was good.

We prefer the cookies at SummerHouse. We always finish them. When we buy Gideon's, they always get thrown out because we take a bite or two and no one touches them again.

I know it's been a year and this topic is controversial....but first let me say I am so happy that your transplant went well.

As far as the cookies go, and I quote "C is for cookie and that's good enough for me!!!!" - I love them both and they both serve their purpose....JK - Gideon's every time- that sprinkle of salt gets me!

So this is an older thread and I commented on it before.. But I'm coming back to add that now that I've had both Gideon's and Summerhouse, I prefer Summerhouse (and I was surprised by that). I still love Gideon's, but Summerhouse are not as sweet and easier to eat. And there is never a line. My favorite is the chocolate chip krispie cookie.
