Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop - soft-opening on June 1

We've shared the Earthquake Sundae in the Ghiardelli's in DTD Orlando, as well as SF. Can't wait to have one for dinner next month!

We were there today, and the merchandise is 20% off and fountain treats were 15% with our premium APs. The store is cute, with outdoor seating. I really liked the panels behind the counters. There are 3-d murals that move. In the center is a small screen that shows the feature treats. As the treats appear the 3-D mural comes to life. For instance, there is a treat called the Golden Gate. When that is shown then the Golden Gate "picture" comes to life. It was fun figuring out which part of the mural pertained to the featured treat.

Afterwards we enjoyed some very yummy shakes.

Will they take the Ghirardelli gift cards there? If they do, Costco online has a 4 pack of $25 Ghirardelli gift cards for $79.99. I am hoping they do take them, and does anyone know if the Starbucks will accept Starbucks gift cards?

I'm assuming if it's not a franchise, they will have to take any of their giftcards.

 Someone really needs to try this and report back. You could totally buy a four pack, us two or three for obligatory family Christmas presents, and spend the mostly free part at DCA.

Don't know about the Ghirardelli gift cards, but did see from the comments section of the article posted about Starbucks on the Disney park blogs that the in-park Starbucks is expected to accept Starbucks cards.

Will we be able to use our Starbucks cards inside these locations? (This is great news BTW!!!)

Yes!"

I was there on Saturday; I got my hot cocoa and chocolate chip cookie. Yum!

I don't know about gift cards, but I did whip out my DVC member card and got 10% off with that. Every little bit helps.

I just won a $200 Ghirardelli gift certificate! I hope they accept them!!!

Does the Starbucks have Disney themed food? I wonder.

well thats good that DVC discounts are being honored because they are not honoring AP discounts...we were there sunday and as we were in line there was a manager training 3 employees and she told them that although they are on disney property, they are a separate entity and are not going by the same policies that all the other disney stores/restaurants comply with and that there would probably be alot of questions in regards to AP discounts and for them to apologize but advise they are not accepting them....and when I got up to the register, the people in front asked about the AP discount and were told they dont accept them either...the ice cream was good as usual...I only live a couple hours from SF so its not hard for me to go to Ghiradelli...the bad thing was the prices were astronomical and the serving sizes were very small...we got the cookie bottom hot fudge sundae and the size of it was like a plastic cup....same size as the baja coolers...and we paid $9....i think it was here that I read where people said it looks like the ghiradelli in SF and I didnt find that to be true at al...its really cute but doesnt remind me of it period and they only have outdoor seating and very limited at that...it was really good though:goodvibes

We got AP discounts last Saturday during soft opening.

I was much more surprised to hear that people have been getting AP discounts. It would be really nice, but it doesn't fit in with the policy at other places. Several snack locations in Disneyland don't offer AP discounts; Gibson Girl and Mint Julep bar are two that come to mind immediately. There are also some shops where you can't get the AP discount; I think the crystal shop is one since it's third party.

Just was there the other day. Line to get in. No joke! But they were giving away samples of the milk chocolate sqaures with caramel inside. :)

well lucky you then because I heard it straight from a mgr mouth on sunday and they wouldnt give it to them....so :confused3

When I was there the cashier made a point to ask me if I was an AP. I said yes and she asked if I was a premium. I said no and she gave me 10% off. I didn't even show my pass.

that is so ridiculous...who knows, maybe alot of people complained idk...well im glad they are taking it...seems a little off the wall that the mgr went through all that just to turn around and take it the next day:headache:
