GFV/VGF Rumors

In this scenario, and essentially in any scenario that includes a "new" system, wouldn't that mean that GFV owners cannot pool all of their DVC points (from GFV and non-GFV resorts) together to make one reservation? If that's true, then I think that's a huge disincentive for existing owners to buy in/add on. My brain hurts from thinking about this.

They would be able to at 7 months just as any other DVC member, but combining points from different resort at 11 months won't work as that would affect the 11 month priority and be an issue with the FL timeshare laws.

If DVD wants to create a "new" division of DVC where combining points is allowed for all resorts in that division, that would be fine but it would not include any of the current resorts. I suppose they could structure a "new" brand of DVC resorts with whatever reservation policies they want, but that still would not affect owners at the current resorts. While there are many things DVC is certainly able to modify at will, there is a core of current policy that cannot be changed.

If DVD wants to create a new division of DVC where combining points is allowed for all resorts in that division, that would be fine but it would not include any of the current resorts unless they somehow combined all of the "new" division resorts into one resort (doubtful).

Except to any extent they could include existing resorts in the new system. They could potentially do so for AKV and Aulani and with ROFR for any system. I'll have to think about this one as it applies to any "unit" already declared into inventory but it's easy for any unit no declared.

Hey, I paid $84 for Boardwalk resale back in the day when that was a pretty good price. I still only bought 100 points. Its what I could afford to pay outright at the time.

So yeah...$130/pt. is too rich for my blood.

I may pick up some more Boardwalk points sometime, but doubt that I will ever own at GFV...of course, never say never.

I can't wait to see the room layouts. I wasn't crazy about the layout of a BLT studio, I hope they don't repeat it. BLT had an issue with the shape of the building, VGF is more square. Took this picture on Monday from the monorai:

Do we know anything about the breakout of the rooms (studios, 1 bedrooms, etc?). That middle section might be GV's.

If a premier system was based on points on points and not location, could they roll in BCV and BWV? I know they've been tossing around ideas for contract extensions for those properties (admitting OKW was not the way to do it). I could see BCV being part of that system eventually. You could offer contract extensions with the added perk of being upgraded into the GFV system.

The rumorer expansion at HS could include a new DVC attached to the park that could be at that level. That would expand the group of premier resorts right away.

All that said though, I still think if they were going to split into a two-tiered membership program they would have done it with BLT.

I supposed GFV could just include things like FOTL access and dining anytime (no reservations required).

For existing and sold out resorts I think they'd be limited to a crossover system but they could limit that to qualified points and/or they could charge a fee to have the option. As for how it work, it's pretty much a blank page with many options. I doubt they'll do this personally, I'd think simply a VIP system would be more likely comparatively and neither seem to dramatically likely at present.

As for extensions, that's certainly another thread. Other than one or 2 reports that originated with sales guides recently, I don't think we've seen much indication of a pending extension. The Fiasco with OKW really tied their hands for future options. IMO, IF they offer an extension, it has be to be very different to OKW and/or much closer to the RTU end date.

I was curious if they could simply switch a whole resort from one system to another, since it seems DVC could technically disconnect any resort from the current "club" anyway. If they were able to change resorts from one system to another, I could see them transferring VGC and BCV, as these are considered two higher-end DVC properties, plus it would leave an EPCOT resort in each program (and, incidentally, one MK resort, too).

I bet most (if not all) VGC owners would be willing to switch to a new system in concert with VGF, if it had no additional cost. I think most would agree even if it severed them from the current "club", since I would be willing to bet most VGC owners use their points at that resort almost exclusively.

Thanks for the answer, Dean. If it is reasonable (affordable), I would probably pay to be in a VIP system depending on the perks. If it had some useful ancillary perks like preferred restaurant seating, more fast pass availability on the NextGen system, lounge access at the connected resort (CR for BLT stays, BC for BCV stays, AK for AKV stays, etc), early check-in (a big one!), and/or others, it would make it financially viable.
