I have one night in a GFV standard studio and another in a lake view studio. Is there any hope that I could give up my lake view for the second night and stay in my standard studio so we don’t have to switch rooms? I figure it would give someone an upgrade and I wouldn’t expect my points back for having standard view the second night. Would they consider this if they had someone with a one night reservation?

Probably not. In all likelihood, there is someone booked for that standard studio for more than just one night. If you don’t move, where do they go? To your lake view for just one night? What they if they are part of a 2BR lock-off?

If you don’t want to move, put in a waitlist for the standard view studio. If you have enough points, put in a second waitlist for the lake view and hope that one of them comes thru.

If it is showing no availability through a wait list, the chances of the front desk making that happen would be very difficult, if not impossible. They would not have access to someone else's reservation, only yours. Now, when you get there (assuming you have put in a wait list and it doesn't come through), you can always ask if there is a chance that 2nd night opened up (people do cancel at the last minute) and I am sure they would leave you if they can. It happened to me once. I wanted to be able to stay for an extra night and it wasn't possible. It was booked and there was no way to change it.

You could also always call MS - IF they have a standard view available for the night you want in Cash inventory, they might switch it for you if you agree to still pay the lake view rate. This way they get a "better" room to rent out.

Realize that there are only (at most) 47 studios at VGF. Perhaps (about) 30 standard view - changes of someone having one of those for 1 night and 1 night only are slim to none - and even then how would you find them?

@Marionnette has the best advice, 2 wait lists.
