GFV lake view or not?

We are first time DVC owners at SSR and we have not yet made a booking but Sunday is or 7 month window and had hoped to get a couple of nights in a studio at GFV in May. It looks like at the moment that we will have to take a 1 bed if still available. I want a bay lake view but DH does not think it is worth the extra points. I do like a view and I also like to spend time just sitting on the balcony while the others are off to the parks.

I don't know if we will stay there again so want to make the most of our first visit.

So is the view worth the points?
Does anyone have any pictures?

Thank you:)

Lake view you will face the water, the Poly, and the wedding venue.

Standard view you will be over the lobby entrance facing the parking lot, Senses Spa building with the monorail passing across your view. You might also get the standard view facing the GF buildings. Upper floors more of a roof view, some rooms have an obstructed view.

There is a reason the Disney labeled it a standard view.

There is a list of room photos and a layout of the room numbers in the DVC resort threads.

It's Seven Seas Lagoon view. I had a lake view in May, it was great!

I would be disappointed with this standard view (1221):

I would also be disappointed with that view :( Lake view it is:)

I also just closed on a SSR contract and just made my first reservation for a 2 bedroom at GFV. I was going to go with a standard view as a lot of the photos posted looked like pretty nice views (especially the monorail passing by). BUT I must have missed that all roof view photo you posted, so decided to go with lake view. It's just one night and for my grandmother's 90th birthday, so worth the extra points splurge. I also booked 1 night at Bay Lake Tower for a separate stay - very exited to try two new resorts (for me) in one month!

Hope your grandmother loves her stay at GFV, well worth the points for her birthday:)

We have stayed at a few DVC resorts on purchased points before but are now trying some others on our own points. Along with GFV we have also booked BCV and AKV Kidani. We have just a few more to try which we will hopefully do on our second trip next year:)

That really is a poor standard view! We have one night standard view before our EBTA cruise, we want to eat at Narcoossee and see the fireworks either from that restaurant or TOTW. I'll take my chances, but wow knowing what I know now I think I will always go with Lake view if the option is there.

I've had 1 VGF stay so far, just a mediocre view, but not THAT bad!
