DH, DS4, DS2, and I were there 12/18-12/22/2002. We didn't care for it too much. The staff service was just okay. The food/drink offerings were disappointing. No bottled water or soft drinks. DH gave $5 tip to get a liter bottle of water, which is slightly cheaper than $3.50 we were charged for taking a bottle of Desani out of the mini bar fridge. That's why we will be staying at Poly concierge when we leave in 11 days!
Dg39, there are several Dis'ers who have stayed in Sugar Loaf. If you do a "search" of the "Disney Resorts'" board (the board you're currently on), you should find some good info.
We've stayed there twice for holiday stays...9 nights and then 8 nights this year. Breakfast is fine but the offerings the rest of the day aren't as extensive as the Polynesian. Housekeeping is wonderful and we found some concierge staff to be very helpful but I think they are trained to be somewhat reserved. Conde Nast always praises this. I'd prefer Disney friendly myself.
