Does anyone have any pictures and/or info on the Sago Cay bldg at the GF? I understand it is close to the main bldg/Gaspirilla Grill where you re-fill your mugs, is swan themed (what does that mean?) and is also a garden view bldg, which is what we'll have for Christmas. Any help would be appreciated!

I have some pictures of the rooms. Send me a Private Message (PM) if you would like to see them. In order to view them, you will need to sign up for a free Ofoto account (all they ask for is a "first name/user name" and e-mail address).

:)

Sago Cay has a very nice location, close to the marina and Gasparilla Grill. The (garden view) rooms have either a marina or monorail view.

My husband and I stayed there right after the renovations of the rooms and I believe we had to be one of the first guests in that particular room - it just sparkled. The theme is sort of "grandma's bedroom" with blues, pinks and off-whites. Very busy but very soothing at the same time. I just loved the theme. I sent a fax request a few days before our arrival and we were upgraded to a king bedded, lagoon, Magic Kingdom view. It was totally awesome to be able to watch the EWP and the fireworks each night from our bed or balcony. The fireworks were so loud and close I actually could close the french doors and still here and see them very well.

In the Sago Cay building, you are steps away from the marina and Gaspiralla Grille - we had wonderful ice cream sundaes there each evening. You can also take the path between Sago Cay and GG (it looks like a service road) under the monorail overpass and you will be right at the front entrance. We found out by mistake one day. This way you don't have to go the long way to the front of the resort to get to the bus stop and monorail station.

I hope one day we can stay at the Grand Floridian again and would not hesitate to request the Sago Cay building! Have a wonderful trip!

The walk from Sago to the bus stop (for MGM) was two minutes...and to the monorail, upstairs in the main building, just under five.

Very VERY convenient!

We had a nice view of the marina (which is preferable I think, to the monorail) and really loved being so close to everything. It was just footsteps to the Gasparilla Grill, for morning coffee and cereal. (Which I was tempted to share: every now and then a mother duck and her ducklings would wander by, looking for handouts!)

Enjoy!

You guys are the best! I knew I'd get expert advice if I asked for it! ZerasPride-Did you ask to be up-graded in your fax? I'm not very good at asking for things like that! I always just book what I know I'll be comfortable in, but an up-grade would be wonderful since this is our Christmas gift to our DS's! Was the room swan themed? Greg K.-thanks! I think I'll request a marina view on my fax! CaliforniaDreaming-thanks! I sent you a PM!

I can't wait for Christmas at the GF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, I just wanted to add: If you don't get the marina view, the monorail view is still good, too. You can see a little bit of the lagoon and the monorail - it is a very relaxing view. It sorta removes you from the "hustle and bustle" of the resort. I never felt that people on the monorail could "see" me, so I wasn't bothered by that at all. I've had marina view (not in Sago, but in Conch), and I really liked it, too. :)

How were the water pagent views from the lagoon view rooms at Sago Cay ?
