Staying at GF 2nd week of Dec., :santa: first timer, VERY excited :cool1: ! I have quite a few questions, and I'd appreciate any tips you may have.

1-Do the alarm clocks have CD players built in?
2-Is there a frig and a mini bar ?
3-Is the balcony where you enter the room or in back (we have GV room)?
4-Is there a bar in the lobby have or buy a drink?

Appreciate all your help in advance.

I don't know the answers to these questions but I do know that there is a thread dedicated to the GF on the resorts board....you might get better responses on there as there are several DISers who are very experienced in all things to do with the GF :)

Unfortunately, you may get different answers, depending on what room you end up with. The GF is currently going through a room rehab, so many things are changing.

1-Do the alarm clocks have CD players built in?
I know we had them in the old rooms, but I believe the new units now have the IPod hook up slots instead.
2-Is there a frig and a mini bar ?
Old rooms had mini bars and you could request a fridge. New rooms just have the fridge.
3-Is the balcony where you enter the room or in back (we have GV room)?
The resort is setup with outer lodge buildings. Each lodge has it's own entrance into a lobby foyer area. Rooms are entered through interior doors. The balconies are located at the far end of the room.
4-Is there a bar in the lobby have or buy a drink?
Yes, in the lobby of the main building, you'll find Mizners lounge. The GF Orchestra sets up nightly right outside the lounge entrance and plays Disney classic music all evening. You can also go to Citrico's on the 2nd floor and sit at their bar, as well as Narcoossee's which is overlooking the water.

If you want to head over to Deb Willis's site, she has many great photos of the GF rooms and recreation.

Other Holiday tips include looking over your resort guide. They may have choir groups performing holiday songs during your stay. Also, check out the lifesize Gingerbread house in the main building lobby. General tips include, if you're driving, enter through the main entrance and pull up to the Port Cochere to drop off your luggage and passengers. The self parking lot is located across the street from the resort and it's a little bit of a hike. You can get back and forth to the MK via the monorail system or the resort boat launch. My suggestion is to take the resort boat launch at least one time. It's a cool way to see the resort. Our plan when visiting Epcot is to avoid the bus and/or monorail transfers. Instead, we take the monorail 1 stop to the MK and walk to the bus terminal, where we hop on the YC/BC resort bus. We get off at the BC, walk through the lobby and out the back, hang a left on the pathway and within 3 minutes, we're at the relatively uncrowded back entrance to Epcot.

New rooms have the Ipod dock in the alarm clock.

New rooms have a frig only but you can request it to be stocked as a mini bar.

There is also a pool bar.
