We are planning a stay at GF. For those who have stayed there before is there one particular building that is better than the rest. We did book a garden room so i am sure the lagoon view is better, but from my experience at the Poly the quailty of your room depends on which building you are in. Some of the Poly buildings have not been redone which was our case. Are there any buildings that have been newly rennovated at the GF. Please help me request which building. thank youhttp://www.disboards.com/newthread.php?s=&action=newthread&forumid=12#

Bumping up so it doesn't hit page two with no response.

We last stayed at GF in '98 at Boca Chica - had a limited view of the castle (despite your garden view you might get upgraded at checkin). We had also stayed at Sugarloaf in 1997, but now I believe that is a concierge building.

It seemed that all the individual bulidlings were pretty much the same - some closer to the main building, others closer to the boat dock. None a far walk from anything though. The lagoon or marina views vary quite a lot however.

That's not much help - I hope people who have been at GF more recently will jump in.

I believe that every building at GF has been remodeled (last there in '02). There are some "historic rooms" that have been left alone (I think I read 3). Last time we were in a garden view room by the marina with out dormer window facing the monorail. You can sometimes hear the swoosh of the monorail - which could be cool or annoying depending on your mood. Most garden view rooms surround the central courtyard area, which is beautiful. OTW, the only thing you might look into is the room decor. There are 4 different room types. Some people think some of the designs are obnoxious. I believe there are pictures on allearsnet.com.

Hope this helps!

Hi - my family and I love the GF, and I don't think there's a bad view in the whole place! We stayed in Conch Key both times, because after our 1st time in this building, we loved it so much that we requested it again, and will do so this November. IMO, lagoon view is better mostly if you want a chance to see the castle from your room - that would be nice, but we're happy with our garden view of the quiet pool (LV just seems like too much $$$). Last November we were on the marina side of Conch Key, which was a lovely view, as well. The room decor in Conch Key, which is the closest building to the boat dock, is Alice in Wonderland - very pretty (just in case you'd like to know :D ).
