Okay here is the problem, we are in the process of trying to book one of these hotels and have never stayed at any of them! We are only going to be there for 3 nights after our repo cruise in September and want convenient, spacious and quiet rooms.
There is 3 adults and 3 children (15,11,6) in our party (so at least 2 rooms will be needed) We stayed at the dolphin last year found the water shuttle to be convenient but drove everywhere else. So my questions are, do we neeed a car if we stay at one of these to get to MK, MGM and the water parks or are the shuttles fast and efficient? Which one would you pick (we are looking at std rooms at each) and has anyone ever had a free upgrade to a better room/view at any of these hotels?

Any imput is most appreciated Im counting on you guys to help make my decision!! :sunny:

Thanks Pauline

These three resorts are Monorail resorts, so getting to MK isnt a problem at all. You can also hop over the TTC to take the Monorail to Epcot, once again no problem.

Busses are pretty good for MGM, never really had a problem...we usually just take the back way (international gateway) through Epcot to get there.

Personally, Id go with the Polynesian...theyre nice big rooms, great theming, and its Disney's first resort, it has a lot of history to it. What a better way to start off your MK resort resume than the Poly? :)

I dont think Im helping much, but id go with the Poly.

I'd go with Poly. I love this resort for many reasons, but what really separates it from GF and CR is its status of being next door and within easy walking distance to the TTC. This gives Poly sort of a unique status of being within walking distance to the two direct monorails to MK and EPCOT. The resort monorail loop can be VERY slow at times.

The only one that appeals to me is the GF.

I dont think you'd need a car.

i don't think you would need a car for any of these. we stayed at GF last jan. and had no problems w/ the busses at all. they were very quick and efficient. also, we did receive a free upgrade. we booked garden view, and were given lagoon view w/ a castle view as well.

good luck!

If you're going for a standard room, go for either Poly or GF. My personal fav is Poly, but you really can't go wrong with either. The poly is a bit more teen friendly though. It has an awesome volcano slide. You won't have to be driving anywhere. The monorail passes right through the three resorts and takes you to MK and the TTC where you can hop on another monorail and go to epcot. :goodvibes

I don't think you can go wrong with any of these 3 resorts. That being said, The Poly is my favorite, The theme, the pool, the view of the castle  the Tiki torches at night, :goodvibes Is there a better resort ? :scratchin I would love to try the CT and GF just to say I have stayed there someday. Good luck with your choice !

If money is no object, I would go GF. It seems to be the quietest and it's easiest to get to and from MK from there. MK is the first stop on the monorail on the way there and the first stop on the water launch on the way back. The bus service is slightly better at the GF too. You will go directly to MGM from there. The Contemporary is nice because you can walk to MK.
