GF Pillow top beds

Somewhere in the GF thread I saw a question asking if anyone knew if GF now has pillow top beds. YES! I was there last week - one thing they do need to do is get larger sheets to fit the new bedding!! Mousekeeping must work so hard at this resort. Our room was perfect everyday - although the room was not usually cleaned until late afternoon, I could have requested an earlier time. It did not matter except for one day when I went back for the afternoon early - it would have been nice to return to a fresh room. Still, they work so hard that I have no complaints!

Pillow Top bed. But every bed has 3 pillows and one of those might be Down. Be sure to call and ask or ask at check-in and I am sure they will bring you another foam pillow.

Also I remember before I left a discussion about fresh/clean comforters being changed between guests. They do this at the GF and I could tell mine was clean - and I saw them bringing up clean comforters the day I was leaving.

Do they always change blankets/ comforters at the GF between guests or is it by request?

You might have missed my comment about comforters

Before I left there was a discussion on DIS boards about fresh/clean comforters being changed between guests at WDW Resorts. They do chnage between guests at GF and I could tell mine was clean - and I saw them bringing up clean comforters the day I was leaving.

If you have any doubts when you arrive just hit "housekeeping" on the room phone and ask for clean ones. I had to call once and they were great. Always gracious.

they will change all blankets, comforters and pillows on request. They did this in September for me since I am allergic to down. I was just worried about the new matresses being down.

I am also alllergic to down (have many allergies) and that was my call to mousekeeping - no problem. Foam pillows were there in minutes.

I just can't get over how much I loved the GF...I never expected to like it and put off staying there ever since GF opened!!

Although the rooms are not as large as some at the Poly or Cont, the feeling is so relaxed that it did not matter. The rooms are certainly a nice size - except for the dormer rooms - where I would not want to stay. I hope every future visit will be during an off season so I can be assured of my room request

It really is wonderful! We had a view of the castle from our concierge honeymoon suite (right above Gasprilla, thank god it wasn't open) and it was beautifully breathtaking. DH doesn't want to stay anywhere else. We are talking concierge level 5th floor room with castle view for our next one.

About down, I always bring my own pillow now. It is slightly sad but it is also extremely comforting. My DH though has to sleep on fiber fill now as well b/c it being in the same bed near me becomes an issue. Comforters are the worst though... I had one as a kid and after about a week of sleepless nights, my parents finally got rid of them. Its unfortunate because they are so nice. Even the "hypo-allergenic" ones don't work for me. Its crazy. I'm glad I'm not the only one out there!

BTW - If you put it on your reservation (extreme down allergy) they will take care of it before you get there.

Thanks for the allergy tip in the reservation! I stayed in Boca Chica and loved it so much that I hesitate to even book a concierge room becasue I liked the privacy of a Lodge away from the main Lodge. I also enjoyed the walk every morning and evening - and in between - to visit the resturants, shops, lobby.
We had a corner room, view of MK, lagoon, EWP, Monorail, Cont Resort - what's not to love!!!!

What did you have on your bed instead of a comforter/bedspread?

We had their regular comforter... not a down one or anything like that. I also used an extra blanket. It worked out fine for me. I may be mistaken now - but did they change the comforters too?

I think we had the regular comforter - floral - since we were in Boca Chica - which I loved!!!

From the photo's I've seen on line of Castle views from Conch Cay and Sago Key I think our view was far better.

3for me ~
Our room number was 8345. All the rooms on thatr end have great views - even though on the map is does not appear that they would. On the map these end rooms appear to face building 9 (a restaurant) and the Lagoon on one side (resort on other side), but the views are incredible! 8345 is an end room with 2 balconies, but the rooms on that end 8339 thru 8345 almost all have a great views . We saw room 8339 which is a standard view, corner room (one balcony) but they could see everything except the Castle, which did not matter too much for them because they could see the Cont Resort, monorail glide by in the distance, some MK attractions : Space Mountain, Railroad, the Rockets on top of the Wed Way people Mover (I know, old name), the Fireworks and the EWP - not bad at a standard rate, esp if it is at a code!!

Also, I was outside on the Lagoon side to watch private fireworks (was my way back to the room, but did not want to get all the way back and have the fireworks over!)- From where I was standing, which was mid way, Lagoon side of Boca Chica, it seemed those rooms would also have a great view of the Castle because I could see it just fine. There were more trees on that side. Be sure to ask at check-in. Arouda (sp?) was a wonderful front desk CM. Here's a map:
