Where should we stay - the GF or Poly, and why? We're a family of 5. Thanks guys!

To me there are 2 reasons to pick the Polynesian. The first is that while both are on the MK monorail, from the Poly you can walk over to the TTC and catch the monorail to Epcot as well. (Access to the TTC also means direct buses from other locations so you can take the TTC or Poly bus whichever comes first.)

Second, in my opinion, the Poly is a perfect place to relax and have fun. While the Grand Floridian is beautiful, I always feel like I have to shush my kids whenever I am there. Again, this is just personal taste.

My vote is for the Polynesian although we have never stayed at the GF. I am a grandmother of 5 little ones and we stayed at the Poly last September and it was fabulous. We booked three rooms and everything was simply perfect. The children all adored the volcano pool and the two boys (

My vote is for the Polynesian although we have never stayed at the GF. I am a grandmother of 5 little ones and we stayed at the Poly last September and it was fabulous. We booked three rooms and everything was simply perfect. The children all adored the volcano pool and the two boys (5 and 4) loved playing in the sand at the beach. Nothing beats sitting at the beach watching the fireworks and the Electrical Water Parade. As lush and romantic as the Polynesian can be, it is also very kid-friendly and we never worried about being out of place. The children activities are abundant and this year we will let some of the children try the Neverland Club. So we'll be going back to the Poly in September.

Both are great!
It depends on what kind of atmosphere you are looking for. If you want an island feel with tiki torches and hawaiian music, then the polynesian is your choice.
If you are looking for beachside elegance with crisp white buildings and grandeaur -then GF is it!

You can always split your stay between the 2 as well. That way you don't miss anything!
Whatever you choose- enjoy your trip!!!

Here is another vote for the Poly. Both are great resorts, Poly seemed more casual to me and the GF more elegant. As DisneyPete mentioned I feel the need to shush my DS at GF (though I am sure it is just in my head).

Regardless you cannot go wrong with either resort.

I've stayed at both and my vote is for GF. Now the Poly is great, but there's just something about GF. Also that's where they hold the Wonderland Tea Party, Grand Adventures in Cooking, and the Pirate Cruise. There's also the Cinderella's Gala Feast. My kids (4, 5 and 7) loved the pools and the beach and we were the first stop going to the MK off the monorail. They're both great places for kids but everyone has their favorite and mine is GF.

Polynesian Pros:
• Laid back atmosphere.
• Bigger rooms.
• Easy access to the TTC.
• Cheaper restaurants.
• Better theme pool.
• Better price.
• Lagoon view rooms are almost guaranteed to have a view of the MK.
• The luau.

Grand Floridian Pros:
• Nightly turndown (available at all rooms without request).
• Best and fastest transportation to and from MK (Monorail to, Boat from).
• A multitude of restaurants (though all are kind of expensive).
• All GF rooms have double vanities.
• Live orchestra in the lobby.
• Wonderful courtyard pool. It’s the best “quiet pool” on property IMHO.
• The Spa.

I like them both about the same. My wife prefers the Poly.

Thank you so much for all of your replies. Please keep them coming. I'm still torn! The only problem I have is that the Poly doesn't have a jacuzzi!
