Are these rooms called "Lodge Tower Rooms"?

I'm referring to the rooms that are located in the main building where all the action is (i.e. lobby, restaurants, etc..)

What is the main building called?
TIA!

Thanks!

So, it looks like there are no standard rooms at the Royal Palm-only club and deluxe. Is that right?

Are these standard rooms more money than the regular standard rooms at GF?

Basically, I want to see if we can stay in the main building for around $300-something a night (during value season). Is that possible?

Yes, rooms in the Royal Palm Club will be significantly more expensive than standard/garden view rooms in the outer lodges. The Royal Palm Club is concierge, and comprises all of the guest rooms in the Main Bldg.

To check out the rack room rates for the GF, go here: http://www.mousesavers.com/grandfloridian2008.html

The rooms in the main building are those listed as standard, or deluxe, club level, towards the bottom.

ETA: Sorry to say, unless some amazing deal comes out (something like a 60% discount!), it will prove pretty impossible to stay in RPC for $300/night, even in value season, unfortunately.

Oh well, it was worth a shot!

What's the closest building to the main one called?

Or maybe I should ask-what's the best you can get for $300-ish a night at GF during value season?

I"m assuming there are really no "bad" rooms here!

Yes, we all wish it was more affordable!

I got a rate of a bit over $300 for a garden view room with an AP discount in August '05 (value season). The room rates have gone up since then, and it seems the AP discounts have gone down, unfortunately. It might be hard to get a garden view right around $300, but if you're comfortable with the $350/night range, then that might be doable.

I'm holding a AAA rate on a GF GV room in mid-December (still value season), and that's about $370 w/tax. I'm hoping the AP discount ends up being more significant, but there just aren't any guarantees. Of course, if you can get one of those pesky 40% off codes, you'd be able to achieve your goal.

The consensus seems to be that there aren't too many "bad" views at the GF - there are probably a select few here and there, but they're not the norm. I like Conch Key or Sago Cay for a GV room - you can request a view of the marina there (some water, but it's still considered GV). All the lodges are fairly close to the main building, but Sago is likely the closest, and is very convenient to the buses and Gasparilla's Grill and Games, the counter-service restaurant and arcade.
