Hello, has anyone done a massage at the GF recently?
1. How was it?
2. What kind did you choose and why?
3. Did you think it was worth it?
4. Can you explain from beginning to end what happend?
TIA
I am booking one for my friend and I in May.
Thanks! Missy

I had a 25 minute swedish massage at the GF spa last month. It was a short version of the usual 50 minute massage and I asked that I have only from the waist up done. I was asked to arrive 15 minutes before my appointment to prepare for the massage. I was shown to a locker room where I stored my belongings and clothes in a personal locker and changed into a robe. The locker room / bathroom area is very nice and there was an attendant there the whole time. After changing I went to the waiting area which is right next to the lockers to meet my masseuse. I've only had a massage one other time before and it was by a woman, I was a little nervous when a man showed up and introduced himself. It was fine once we got started and I felt very comfortable with him. He worked on pressure points specifically in my shoulders and upper back area, he said he felt the tension and knots there. The time went by very quickly, I can see why they reccomend 50 minutes. Just as I started to really relax, it was over. The lights are very dim in the room and there is soft music playing the whole time.

I really enjoyed the massage and felt very relaxed when leaving. The next day I decided to try a facial, I enjoyed that even more than the massage. I received a light massage on my shoulders, neck and arms as part of the facial. If I had to choose between the two I think I'd pick the facial.

It isn't cheap, but I felt it was worth the money spent. My husband took the kids to the park and I had the whole day to myself. It was such a treat.

I had a Body scrub, full massage and facial. I ordered the citrus package( came with 'tea') but ended up not gettingt the citrus facial after all( skin was too dry so she gave me a hydrating one instead.

Locker room was loverly, nice soft squishy chairs, assorted teas and fruit. I want to say a small hot tub or sauna too,

Body scrub and massages were sublime.. I have Arthritis(bad) and require a very low pressure, and they both were very much accommodating to my needs.

Tea was rather a disappointment, you are seated at a table in the main lobby( in your robe and slippers) and are given a pot of hot water, several flavors of tea and some fruit and small mints. I was expecting finger sandwiches or something.

The facial: was very nice, but was turned off by the hard sell of product. although she did give me an extra hand massage while the mask was soaking in. Considering the cleanser she wanted me to buy was $100, I declined.

It was one of the more expensive packages, at least $300 I think.

If I had to do it again, I would probably skip the tea and just get a smaller package.

Forget the GF Spa. Go to Mandara at the Dolphin instead. It's a MUCH better experience which MUCH higher quality products for a comparable price.

Or if you have a car, book at fawnfeather.com day spa and get a full day of services for half the cost of the GF Spa with the same quality. I had a hot stone massage there last week. I thought the value was great. I wouldn't call the place "world-class" (neither is the GF Spa) but it was on par with the GF Spa, in some ways better as they use a better line of products, and I thought the prices were very reasonable.

I got the massage at the Grand Floridian in 2004 with my son's girlfriend (she was only 17 at the time so we had to have it done together in connecting rooms). I get one every year when we stay at the Coronado Springs Resort. They are comparable as far as the quality of the massage and are cheaper at the Corornado. I get the 50 minute massage with lavender oil and it is heavenly (I had one at Mario Triccoi last Sunday for my 50th birthday--did the 80 minute massage) and I would say they are comparable to the Coronado and vice versa (think Coronado was probably a little cheaper that Triccoi as well). I always ask for a man but am comfortable with either. I always get the aromatherapy massage (I once did the deep tissue massage but did not like it...it was a little too much pressure for me and I was very sore afterwards).

Is Mandara spa treatments covered under the Platinum Dining package?? Or is it just GF and CSR?
