GF garden view or AKV Concierge?? Christmas decisions

We are DVC owners. We currently have a reservation for next Dec for AKV Concierge studio room. Then we received the 40% discount in the mail. We reserved the same week at the GF garden view. We cannot decide which reservation to keep. My children will be 7 and 5. They love the monorail. However we really wanted to try concierge. However since we are AKV owners we will always have the opportunity to try conceirge. I am not sure if we will ever get this rate at the GF again. It's an awesome rate. I have read both resorts are beautiful at Christmas but GF is exceptionally beautiful.

Which would you choose and why?

By the way if we go with GF we will just bank our point until next year or rent them to help pay for GF. So nothing will be lost.

Well, you could always do a split stay, if it wasn't too much of a pain for you and your family...

That's exactly what DH and I are doing in December - starting out with AKL CL, and then moving to the GF, either GV or RPC. We love both resorts! We have never stayed at the AKL during the holidays, though, and have heard great things about concierge there, and DH really wants to do one of the safaris. We stayed at GF on the RPC level last Dec. for a few days, and it was astounding - the resort is so beautiful at that time of year!

If you don't want to move, though, then I say take the 40% off at the GF, and save AKV CL for another time. Like you said, being that you own points there, the opportunity will definitely present itself again. (Although I'm impressed - I'm DVC too (though not at AKV) and was told AKV CL level is pretty much sold out for the month of Dec.!)

We are only staying 5-6 nights so we don't want to do a split stay. Once we are settled in we like to stay. I would be willing to do split stay but DH is against it. I wish I could talk him into it...Plus it would help save 1 weekend nights worth of points if we split stayed.

unless you just have to have the monarail then i say AKL ....it my fav resort and you would be getting club level....and the best part the animals! nothing beats waking up in the morning and sitting on your balcony with your coffie watching the animals....

I would say stay at GF. We stayed there with our son (age 2) for the first time May 07 and returned October 07. He loves riding the monorail before we go to sleep each night (he got to be co-pilot so many times). At night you can watch the fireworks from the resort. If you have the 40% discount...GO FOR IT. We love GF especially my son...he calls it his away home. He is asking when he is going to his away home again. We are thinking of going first week of December b/c of the decoration and the Christmas party. If you are going to the party its one stop going to MK by monorail and one stop going back to GF from MK by boat. Please let us know where you decide to stay. Enjoy your upcoming trip.
