Tammi, Channing or any of the GF experts out there....If we book a gardenview room what building should we request? What about floor level?

Is the main building strictly concierge?

Hi, Traci!! Are you going back again??!:goodvibes

I would have said you can't go wrong with a GV at the GF, but I found out differently.

Now, knowing what I found out I don't think I would want Sago unless it was marina view... Boca Chica would be my choice because of it's central location & I like the view from BC - it over looks the pretty courtyard garden/pool area. People like Big Pine as it's near the waterfall pool and main building & also has that courtyard pool view. Conch is popular & near the boat dock and some GVs may overlook the lagoon a little bit. NOt sure about floors....I know the top floor many rooms have the dormer ceilings and the solid balconies. I like the high ceilings but many do not.

Main building is only concierge.

Come over to the NEW GF thread. :flower3: Kelly posted maps and a bunch of updated info at the beginning of it.

Happy planning,

PS - ADORABLE NEW SIGGY PIC!!!!

Hello, Could you please explain what's wrong with Sago Cay? I just made requests for that building ;)

We want quiet Garden View Rooms in GF (since we have babies and seniors), and hopefully close to the Main Building.

BTW, will monorail noise be an issue at all? Any suggestions?

Sorry so long...I just wanted to explain why I am not as hyped for Sago anymore....

I had a GV ressie booked for Thanksgiving '07. I had only stayed concierge at the GF until this ressie but from being at the GF a lot I really thought Sago would be a great location for us due to the proximity to the marina, Gaspies & the main building.....well I found out the hard way that there are some horrid views in Sago and I was assigned one.:scared1: It faced the back, right near the elevator, first floor - looked toward the convention center and the dumpsters, haha. (Lucky me:rolleyes1 after all the money we've spent staying at the GF this is where they put us for our first GV stay :rotfl: ) There was a construction tractor type thing sitting out there the whole time, too. I got lucky with the opportunity and upgraded us to the main building, but some other Disser was there about the same time (on the GF thread there are pics about the middle of November posts) and she was horribly disappointed with the location/view she had, too. That's why if I did request Sago ever again, I would only take it at check in if it had a marina view.

I don't know what to say about a QUIET GV room.....most face in toward the courtyard (Boca Chica & Big Pine, SL) and that pool which is supposed to be QUIET, but of course when people/kids are using it late at night because the theme pool closes at 8 pm, that sound travels.... If you get too near the water (Conch) you may hear the ferry boat horns early and late. Upper floor maybe?? Once the sliders are closed the room is pretty comfortably peaceful IMO. I think Sago, marina view, with an upper floor, nearest the main building would be a good bet.

It is a LOVELY resort and we have had many happy stays there & MOST garden views are lovely. :goodvibes I just don't think I can say "You can't go wrong with a garden view at the Grand" any more.;)

The monorail is really quiet. :)

Happy planning,

We were at the GF in Dec. and stayed at Conch. At first I was a little disappointed. It seemed far away from everything. But I was at Disney!, so I looked at the bright side. We had a lagoon view, 3rd floor. It was very nice. I liked being close to the boat to get to and from MK. It was right out of our door. Narcocees (sp) also right out our door. Pirate cruise (ditto) back door. It wasn't far at all to anything on the grounds. It was wonderful. Quiet. Never heard any horns from boats or anything. I'd stay in Conch again in a minute. :)

Good luck with planning! I loved planning our vacation. Fun to see it all come together.

Thank you Lives4Disney! If the main issue is about the view (not noise, cleanliness issues) it might still be OK for us - since most of the time the curtains are closed when we are in room.
