How difficult is it to get a Dormer room if you request it? Are all Dormers Lagoon View or do they have Dormers that are Garden View?

Last December, I faxed a room request for a dormer room in Conch Key 4 days prior to my arrival and got what I requested. There are dormer rooms with garden views. We had a garden view dormer room and were even able to see out over the lagoon. It was an amazing view! :goodvibes

When you make your reservation, ask them to note on your reservation that you would like a dormer room. Also, when you check in and if they have not given you a dormer room, ask to see if there are any available.

Dormer rooms are the rooms that are on the top floor of the particular building you stay in (I believe this is either the fourth or fifth floor depending on the building). They are slightly smaller in square footage than a regular room, but have cathedral ceilings that make them look larger! The balconies are also smaller and closed in- kind-of made to look like a dormer window- hence the name. These dormer rooms can be either lagoon view OR garden view. If your request would be honored-the type of room you would be placed in would depend on if you originally booked a garden view or lagoon view. We did request a dormer once, but did not get one. We were however, VERY happy with the view we got instead! Hope this helped~!

We requested a Dormer room during check-in and luckily there was one already available! This was at about 9 am. WE got a room facing the gardens but to the left we could see Narcosses and far off was Space Mountain :3dglasses

I do not know how difficult they are to get. I did not request one but got one anyway. It was very lovely.

I have photos of that Dormer Room posted: click here. The room was in Conch Key and had a Lagoon View (a.k.a, Magic Kingdom view).

I hope this helped.

We had a dormer lodge tower room in SL. I loved having the high ceiling. I heard someone describe it like an attic playroom and that is it, exactly. So charming.

The only downside with the lodge tower dormer room in SL was that is did not have a balcony. It was perfect for us in Feb, though - who cares about a balcony when it is 40 degrees outside at night.

Happy planning!

Fantastic photos and captions!!! Thanks! :sunny:

We were upgraded from a room with a Garden View to a Dormer in Boca Chica and a nice view of the castle. That was the beginning of such a magical trip ... and the room was great

Just cannot hurt to ask.

Most dormers are a bit smaller than the average GF room. We had a garden view room in Big Pine Key. The balcony overlooked the quiet pool area. There was no daybed. It was wonderful for the 2 of us. Very romantic and charming.

Janet, those GF pictures are gorgeous. I didn't know there were dormer rooms with 2 balconies. That dormer room looks bigger than most. Thanks for sharing the pictures. :)
