GF Concierge Questions

Hello everyone!

We are planning a trip sometime during the first or second week of December 2008. We have narrowed down our concierge choice to the GF out of all the monorail resorts. However, we still have some questions before we book:

1. In terms of service, which is preferable, the Sugar Loaf Concierge or Lodge Concierge?
2. What floors in the main lodge building is encompassed by concierge?
3. We think that the views in the main building are better than Sugar Loaf. Is it a guarantee that you will get a nice view (marine or MK Castle) with a concierge room in the main building?

Thank you!
Raina

1. I have found them to be the same.
2. 2-5
3. There are courtyard views and views toward the Polynesian and Wedding Chapel as well as marina and MK views.

Happy planning, Raina.:cool1:

I prefer the Royal Palm Club in the Main building - especially at Xmas, when you can sit in the lounge and look down over the 4 story Christmas tree and gingerbread house while the orchestra on the 2nd floor plays Christmas carols - oh my :cloud9:

Here's some info that I used when I was looking for us that might help you decide too:

The Royal Palm Club, located on the 4th floor of the main building, is the most upscale of the two concierge lounges with views of the Seven Seas Lagoon and the resort’s lovely courtyard. Serving all rooms and suites on floors 3,4, and 5 of the main building, you’ll find a concierge staff on duty near the main elevator of the 3rd floor. A continental breakfast, midday offerings of dip, fruit, cookies, and lemonade, and late afternoon tea with scones, tarts, fruit, tea, and lemonade are served in the spacious lounge overlooking the Grand Lobby.

Early evening brings wine and champagne along with appetizing hors d’oeuvres from the resort’s notable restaurants such as cheese, pate, stuffed chicken rolls, prosciutto and melon, marinated vegetables, and salad. Kids look forward to their own spread of chicken fingers or corn dogs. After-dinner desserts like mini-eclairs, cream puffs, chocolate-covered strawberries, and strawberry shortcake with real whipped cream are served with a nice selection of liqueurs. And everyone enjoys the the self-service cappuccino machine.

There are two types of Honeymoon Rooms: 2nd-floor, standard-type rooms facing the Magic Kingdom with a jacuzzi tub, or six turreted rooms offering a 4-poster bed with white damask bedspread, separate sitting area, and walk-in closet but no balcony - only one of these types of rooms have a view of the Magic Kingdom. All have king beds, all are in the main building, and all are part of the Royal Palm Concierge. Room types are on request only.

The Lodge Concierge, found in the lobby of the Sugar Loaf building, offers the services of a concierge desk and the same food as the Royal Palm Club (desserts are brought out with the early evening service); there’s also a cappuccino machine. But don’t expect a lagoon view in this building—you’ll find only garden, marina, or pool views here. Of course, the room prices are substantially lower than those in the Royal Palm Club.

Have a wonderful time! :goodvibes

Edited to add: don't want to confuse anyone -this photo of the GF Xmas tree is not taken from the CL, but was just a nice photo I saved showing how beautiful the GF Xmas tree is since I mentioned Xmas in my post - the Royal Palm CL lounge is at the opposite end from where the person taking this photo was standing - it's actually more over top of the gingerbread house (toward the courtyard/pool end of the building).

To avoid confusion, Sugar Loaf is actually considered Lodge Concierge. I think you want to know the difference between the main building and lodge concierge. Both offer the same exact service. The difference is really in the views offered and the ambiance of the lounges.
2. What floors in the main lodge building is encompassed by concierge?
Most of the standard concierge rooms are located on the 3rd and 4th floor. A honeymoon wing is on the 2nd floor and the 5th is a majority of the suites.

Personally, I think the views are better from the main building and you won't find a bad view (but that's pretty much the case for all the GF rooms). Unfortunately, you cannot guarantee what type of view you get, whether it's Castle, courtyard or lagoon. It's only a request.

At one time, a small sampling of desserts was served with the early dinner service, but that's changed. Desserts are served from 8 - 10pm just like the main building.

I think (although I'm not sure of this) that you can guarantee a castle view by booking a honeymoon room. We weren't on our honeymoon, but booked a honeymoon room for $10/night extra. I was actually hoping we'd get one of the octagon rooms (which we didn't) but we had a great view of the castle, and the room was EXTREMELY quiet, as I don't think there were any larger families staying in that wing.

we much prefer the Royal Palm Club (the concierge in the main building)..

we requested a specific group of rooms (facing the castle - i gave then the range of room numbers that i preferred) and were given one of those rooms, but it's obviously not guaranteed....

All the rooms on the second floor are honeymoon and contain king beds, so you won't find any families located there. It is nice and quiet, although a longer walk up to the lounge. As you mentioned, the octagon rooms are considered part of the honeymoon room inventory. Not all of these rooms have a castle view, so even booking that level won't guarantee it.

We had planned to try Sugar Loaf sometime but we have never stayed at SL because we are so hooked on RPC!:) The GF is wonderful - you can't go wrong either way!

Thank you so much! I did look at the GF thread, but was not interested in reading through all the pages to find answers to three questions.

Thanks, Tammi for clearing up the confusion between the RPC and Sugar Loaf. Makes a lot more sense now.

Can't wait till Christmas 2008!
