Hi there,
I'm an experienced WDW "resorter" but have never researched and considered staying at the GF. With that said, I'm embarrassed to report that I have just learned that the GF has not one but two CL level rooms

I think the photos that I have found on the main GF thread on this site show pictures of the main building lounge. Can anyone direct me to photos and information on Sugar Loaf lounge. Is the SL building in a convenient location to the monorail and/or boats? Does the lounge have a nice view of the property? Lastly, how many floors are in the SL building and what floor is the lounge located??

Sorry for all the questions! Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you!

Personally, I found SL to be kinda bland compared to RPC. It's very simple and elegant but lacks that awe inspiring lobby of the main building. Its lobby is very small compared to RPC and the food offerings are on the 1st floor as you enter. It's not bad ... a lot less hustle and bustle and just not for me. I dont recall it having any views to speak of really. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2798894&page=3

I took these of RPC during our November trip

Regarding the Sugar Loaf Lounge,
. . . the lounge is not convenient to the monorail
. . . Main Building (RPC) has 3-4 minute walk to monorail
. . . the food offering of RPC and SL are basically the same
. . . the view from SL is not much
. . . SL lounge is quiet a bit smaller than RPC
. . . RPC people can visit SL lounge, but not visa-versa

NOTE: We are staying at Main Building in a Deluxe King in
two weeks. We enjoy the room and view, and especially
the lounge. In fact, we do not do DDP due to the offerings
available in the lounge. We even seldom do the Afternoon
Tea downstairs due to the Tea in the lounge.

I was afraid of this.... now I am going to have to consider the Main Bldg. CL. DH is not going to be happy about this ! :lmao:

We like Sugarloaf and don't find it inconvenient at all. It's right across a walkway to Gasparilla's Grill and the entrance to the main building. We had a beautiful view of the pool and the other side faces the marina. There are no amazing castle views though, but you will also pay more for that view in the main bldg.

As was mentioned, the lounge is small. Food was plentiful and very good on the days we returned in time to grab a bite. Most families seem to eat breakfast in the lounge and there were times we couldn't find a table. We took a tray up to our room and ate on the balcony.

All things considered the Main Building is the better of the options but we couldn't justify the difference in price when we were spending little time in the room or lounge. If we were going to relax at the resort more often, then perhaps we would have chosen differently. It's all in what you're looking for.

We've stayed at SugarLoaf twice with our most recent visit in September. For the difference in price, I would pick it over the main bldg. The rooms are lovely, the staff is helpful, the food is yummy and well replenished. The only complainant I have is the seating area is small and it is hard to find a table. It can also be loud so you wouldn't want a room that directly oversees the center court.

I've never stayed in SL, only RPC once. So my opinion is based only on having been in the RPC. It was a free upgrade at the time! We didn't know we were even upgraded until we got to the room and put 2 and 2 together (CM putting a card in the elevator, the lounge w// snacks, etc). The magnificence of the RPC is what we hold ALL of our subsequent CL stays to now. I'm not sure if we haven't gotten that upgrade if we would have EVER tried club stays, but they ruined us and the RPC ruined us. It's STILL, our favorite of all the clubs we've done, including on the DCL ship. What we LOVED was the CLOSE convenience to the monorail, the smells and ambiance of the main building (especially at Christmas time!), the piano player playing while you kick back in peace in the lounge watching people mill below, the lounge offerings were to die for! Since we had no idea about CL or that we were going to stay in one, we didn't take advantage of the CMs that cold have done things for us, but it's OK, we thought it was HEAVEN.
