Gettysburg PA - nice hotel?

My DS and I were chatting last night about possibly going to Gettysburg for the July 4th weekend. I realize that time is now laughably short and I don't know if I could get a hotel room any more at this late date BUT can anyone suggest a nice, clean, inexpensive hotel/motel? I think a pool would be a must-have for DS.

We went to Gettysburg last year and stayed at the Wyndham. Its a new hotel, very clean. We had a huge corner room. My family loved Gettysburg.

We stayed there last year. Not bad, nothing fancy. It is a little far from town. I got a great rate on Priceline. Something like $50.

Did you buy direct through Priceline or did you bid?

I was debating bidding - I just get so nervous that we'll wind up in a fleabag!

The rates for July 4th weekend are $135-$160 per night. Ouch!

I bid. When you bid, just be sure to click on the higher stars. Most of Gettysburg hotels are on the older more motel feel.


Are you set on that weekend? The reenactment is always the busiest most expensive time of the year.

We had friends stay recently and they recommended the Quality Inn at General Lee's Headquarters. Very reasonably priced and right next to the battlefield. We were able to book them for our stay and the price was less than any where else we looked.
