Gettysburg on Memorial day?

DH & I rarely have a day off together. When I say rarely I mean we haven't even spent Christmas as a family in years. So, we are both off this Monday & want to do something special with the kids. We have been wanting to take them to Gettysburg, just for the day. I was checking around & saw they have a parade that day. Do you think it will end up being way too packed there to enjoy the day? What my real concern is, we love to go to this little diner. Do you think we'll have to wait for a seat? So, anyone ever been to Gettysburg on Memorial day?

We’ve been to Gettysburg but in July not Memorial Day. It was very moving for me and I would love to go back. Alas, I think my plans for the last week in June may be changed because of a yard that needs to be fixed.

If you go and have the time, take the bus tour. It explains a lot and your in a comfortable air conditioned bus and our guide was very interesting. I would do it again. There are many tours, some self guided, others one on one in your car. I liked the bus the best.

Have a nice time, it’s a beautiful area.

My parents are camping there all weekend. They go out every year for Memorial Day and they have a great time.

Thanks for the info! I bought the self guided tour on casette tape years ago & still have it. Uhmmmmm, I think my van has a cassette player. Hmmmmmm, if it does, I've never used it.

No, I haven't been there. I think the name is Avenue? Not sure of the name but I have always enjoyed going there.

I haven't been there, although I think I know which one you're talking about. LD's is on the main road, a bit north of the circle. It was a favorite "late-nite" stop for all the students. They also have the most amazing cheesecake! Have a great trip!
