A few years back we needed to renew our passports. At the time it was taking 6 weeks to 2 months to get one back. I decided to expedite ours. While standing in line at the post office, the lady behind me saw my Expedite notice on the outside of my package. ( In the instructions you are instructed to put expedite on the package.) She said that she used to work in the passport office. She stated that it made the workers frustrated to see "Expedite" - like you were giving an order given to them. She said that if you wrote "please expedite" it would be done first. I did and we got our passports back within 5 days.
