Getting your Dole Whip fix outside the parks

As has been noted, it's a non-dairy soft serve

:scratchin Woo-hoo! I didn't know it is non-dairy I always assumed it was dairy due to the texture. Next time, I can eat a ton of it instead of just a few bites. Dole Whip Floats, here I come! :thumbsup2

Wait, what? It's dairy free! I'm in Hawaii so we can get it here, but have been avoiding it for my milk allergy son. He's so getting a Dole Whip next time we visit Dole! I'm so glad I read this thread!

I believe all of these fake ingredients are just designed to reduce the cost of making the whips. They could easily make soft serve pineapple ice cream using all natural ingredients and it would probably taste better.

Take soda for example. Do you really believe Coke uses high fructose corn syrup because they think it tastes better than real cane sugar? I believe they just use it because it is much cheaper.

It might be cheaper, but I think they're going for a certain feel. I've had pineapple ice cream before, and a combination of dairy ingredients makes for a very different frozen dessert. It's supposed to feel like you've liquified and then frozen pineapple juice - more like a soft serve sorbet than an ice cream.

I'm not opposed to a pineapple dairy soft-serve, but it wouldn't be the same.
