Getting wet on rides - wet shoes/socks

I am trying to figure out which shoes I am going to wear. I have terrible feet, so shoe choice for me is very important. I love Splash Mountain, but my only experience is the one in Disneyland, not Disney World. The one in Disneyland gets me soaked every time (not that that is a bad thing :)). I hate it when my tennis shoes get soaked and I walk around with wet socks and shoes. (I hate carrying extra clothes or shoes for just 1 ride so I usually walk around the park until I air dry.) I am planning on wearing my Tevas the day we are at MK, but really can only wear them 1 day and I know I will get wet on Splash M. My question is, are there any water rides at Epcot, AK or HS? I would like to wear my tennis shoes to those if there is no getting wet (since they are better for my feet than my Tevas). Thanks!

The Animal Kingdom has Kali River Rapids, where you get soaked! I always wear Crocs when I have a good idea I will end up wet from head to toe.

My feet are getting more picky the older I get. I have taken to bringing along a second pair of shoes and renting a locker, so I can trade out shoes if I need to. You could always rent a locker and keep some spare shoes and socks in it.

Kali River Rapids at AK is a ride you might get soaked on, but they have a little storage area in the middle you can put shoes to keep them dry.

Epcot does not have any rides that will get you wet/soaked. The only ride where you might get a little wet is Malestrom, but it's only a few drops (think Pirates).

DHS only has one ride where you might get soaked, but you will have volunteered for it. The person on the boat at the start of the Backstage Tour gets pretty wet.

As the PPs have mentioned, AK has Kali Rapids which is designed to get you soaked.

Remember though for Kali they will make you wear some type of shoe, you cannot ride barefoot.

I would wear the tevas the day you are at AK, you will get soaked on Kali. Splash Mountain at MK is not as bad.

I personally throw a pair of flip flops in my bag the day we go to AK so I can take my shoes off and wear the flip flops on the ride. They are light and take up hardly any space in my bag, just an idea!

You could think of bringing a simple and light pair of flipflops, carry them in a small bag, change shoes while in the line and wear them only for the ride. At the end, once you get to a point where changing back wouldn't be in the way, change them back for your nice dry shoes and socks.

One bit of advice for Kali River Rapids: there is a little ring above the floor of the ride vehicle, about 6 inches off the ground, and rings the little storage area above it. I always make sure my shoes are elevated and sitting on that ring during the ride. That way the shoes might get a few drops of water on the outside, which dries off quickly, but they never get soaked. If you leave your feet on the floor of the vehicle where water might pond for several seconds at a time until it drains, you could easily end up with soaked shoes and socks.

On Splash Mountain I try to elevate my feet as much as possible during the drops, though there's no ring like in KRR to rest them on.

I agree with PP that you should bring the flimsiest, lightest pair of flip flops..even the throw away kind that you'd get in the nail salon. Zip locks are your friend. Put your shoes and socks in your ziplock bag and put on your flip-flops for the ride.... Then change back after.
If you really can't be bothered with carrying anything, and you can really only wear the tevas once day (I live in my tevas), then I'd wear the tevas to AK. It's very unlikely that your shoes will get soaked on Splash. But it's very unlikely that they'll stay dry on Kali..

I think this depends on where you sit when you go down the 25 foot hill and where you are when the water rockets hit - we always have out feet up on these bars and they have gotten completely soaked at times. We were also waiting to get off the ride one time, and the middle part where you can store your bags had water on it, and when we went up the little ramp to exit, all of that water dumped on my shoes which was quite unexpected. The first time I went through Rapids I didn't get too wet, but other times I was beyond drenched. I would bring flip flops to change into for this one.

I agree with everyone who said where the Tevas to AK. I couldn't have been more drenched then if I had gone for a swim fully clothes after riding Kali. And it was November. I was freezing!!!!! I don't remember my shoes getting wet at all on splash.

As often as we've been on Splash, most of my wetness came as wet hair (particularly the front) or a wet seat because the seat was wet when I sat on it.
9 times out of 10 I wear my New Balance to the parks and I don't ride Kali any more, so haven't had the problem of wet feet/shoes/socks.
Unless we're there on a particularly cool day or it's cloudy, we seem to dry off pretty quickly. Most of the time we head for Thunder Mountain after being on Splash and get dried off by the sun and air movement.
By the time we get across to Haunted Mansion, we're dry. Maybe we're just lucky in where we sat or missed the shooting water.
;)

If you're going from now to October-ish, chances are your feet will get wetter stepping in a puddle as a sudden downpour hits than on a ride.

As for Splash Mountain, I've never come off of the one here very wet (I avoid riding in the front though). The one at Disneyland though... completely drenched at least once. You can get a plastic bag at the Brier Rabbit shop to put on the seat before you sit down. Keeps your butt dry and if you leave it there, the people who get on next always seem to be pretty thankful.

My family switched off daily b/w Tevas and New Balance athletic shoes, and we were very comfortable in both. We did wear our Tevas on our AK day and to most of our MK days, because of Kali and Splash. The one dy we got rained on was at AK, so it worked out well and our Tevas dried quickly.

I do think I'll take a pair of cheap flip flops and keep them in my bag for just those two rides. Great advice!

My daughters change into the cheap old navy flip flops for Kali. If your sneakers work best for your feet why suffer for 1 ride. As others have said bring ziplocks and flip flops (my girls change 20' from ride load). I never sit next to my youngest (now 19) she always gets the drench seat. She loves it, I don't mind getting wet just not the blanket of water when you reach the bottom of the drop.
