weve been thinking lately about getting the tsa pre membership since we travel at least once a yr if not more--lately weve been lucky and just get it

but now were going on a cruise in sept and wdw in jan

so now were thinking of getting the global if i understand right it helps getting out and back into the country plus has tsa pre on it

am i right in this would i even have time to get it before our cruise

how exactly does the global part work the site did mention customs

thanks all any other tips or advice would help

Where it the cruise you are going on? Do you often leave the country?

TSA Pre-Check is 85 dollars and Global entry is 100. TSA pre-check is usually easier to get because there are more places you can go to do the final step. Global entry is mostly at just airports for the final step.

Do you have passports? If you don't have a passport you can't even do Global entry.

If I was spending the money again, I'd do Global Entry. I have Pre-Check though, and I feel it's totally worth it. You do have to have a passport for Global Entry.

WE have been thinking about it too? How long does the whole process normally take?

our cruise in sept is out of Barcelona--usually we do cruises every other year (getting the ship in other countries)

still tsa pre would at least make it easier out of he US ( we leave out of Chicago)--do you think wed still have time to get for the cruise

there the place were you go for the interview not far from us so that would help

thanks for the replies

I would go with Global Entry but start now. You have to basically stalk the reservation system once you are "conditionally approved" to get a reservation quickly. I did it in NYC where there are 3 locations for Global entry and was able to do the whole process in 3-4 weeks but with that said had I not constantly checked the reservation system and had a boss that let me leave work to do the interview it may have take several months.

Global entry is only 15 dollars more and it was so worth it coming back into the US.

If you live near Canada look in to NEXUS. It gives you both Pre-check and Global Entry but is only $50.

It's what we did! And kids are free along with parents. So as my so approached 13 he and I applied for nexus for a whole $50.

We could have done the interviews at King County Airporr but it would have taken months. So we went up near the border instead.
