Getting to the Start- Princess 1/2 Marathon

For the Princess Half Marathon I'm staying at the Boardwalk Villas because it's one of my home hotels for DVC and I love the hotels in that area (my parents and I usually stay there or at the Beach Club Villas). This is my first time running the Princess 1/2, or really any race at Disney World (I ran Disneyland for this first time this last year).

What is the best way to get to the start of the race? Am I going to have to get a taxi or something or are they offering any other ways to get to the front? I know for certain breakfasts or tours they do open the World Showcase gates early for those specific people.

Perhaps some one else that has a car will be at the Boardwalk and you can get a ride. Hopefully some one will be along and you can PM each other about meeting and sharing a ride.

We are staying at BWV and I think we are taking a cab. We took a cab to epcot at Christmas and it was about $12 with tip. We will probably tell the valet folks the night before and we will definitely be leaving early to hopefully avoid problems. It's a little more hassle, but I'd rather stay at BW, so I'll deal with it.

I will probably see you down in the lobby then that morning! I agree that telling the valet the night before is a great idea that I'll probably adopt as well.

We're at the BWV as well. It would be nice if disney would add a bus there!
I'm not sure if we are renting a car or if I am taking at taxi. Maybe if there are several of us we could meet in the lobby before the race and split up into a few cabs. Anyone else interested?

It really does seem like they need to add a bus from the BWV's...

I don't know what time I'll be down there (although I do know it's definitely going to be early and I'll still be somewhat asleep), but if there's a group of us we should definitely look at splitting some cabs. Maybe when it gets closer and we know what's going on a bit more, revisit this post and put down meeting times...

Bumping to see how many people would be interested in sharing a cab to the start from the BW on Saturday for the 5k and Sunday for the 1/2. If there are several people who want to share a cab we could request a van taxi the night before to make the cost even cheaper.

I would definitely be interesting in sharing a cab; my friend and I are also staying at BWV and honestly, I totally didn't realize there would not be transportation to the start although now I see it is posted on the race website (my DH and I did the Goofy last year and stayed at BWV and there was transportation, so I assumed...bad on me). This is my friend's first WDW visit and I had my heart set on staying at the BWV; it's probably too late to move to the "host" DVC resort (OKW? AK?).

I think we're going to try and leave the resort between 3:45 and 4. I vaguely remember riding in one of those larger taxi vans that has a bench for 3 in the back, then 2 rows in the middle for 2, and a seat up front with the driver. Does anyone know the number for the concierge desk at the BW that I could call to find a definite answer about this?

So I'm planning on going to the expo on Saturday and I'm thinking about getting a taxi over from BW. If anyone wants to join, I'm leaving about 9:45. I'm not planning on staying long so I can rejoin my friends in the park. We also have lunch reservations I'll need to get back for.
