Getting to Resort ADR's

Alright, here's a question for you...

(I've decided that it's an inevitability that ALL my questions have
been asked previous and resign myself to being redundant.)

I want to eat at places like HDDR, Spirit of Aloha, maybe even go
to the camp-fire movie thing. I want to get easy reservations
(I am a part of the October 24th crowd) so that I am nearly
garunteed to get to at least EAT at the places I have chosen
(though of course I have planned for error). Since we are most likely
staying at a moderate resort (one of the PO's) and these cool
places to eat are not really that close... How do we get "home"
after a late ADR if thats what I have to settle for?

I don't want to sacrifice too much park time for these meals, but I
must confess the meals are very important to me.

I don't have a car, nor do we expect to have ANY desire to rent
one, and since there are 6 of us, a taxi may prove to be a tad
expensive.

I AM going to try for reasonable dinner times except for HDDR and
Spirit of Aloha, both I want the late show so we can get the
BEST seats! Other dinners on resorts are:
California Grill
Yachtsman Steakhouse

Also.. breakfast at ohana and supercalifragilistic... is it a pain to
get to those early ressies as well? Are we doomed to not be
able to do these things because busses don't really "hop" resorts
like we need?

Thanks In Advance for the help!

The buses run to & from DTD until 2AM. You can take a bus from the resort you are dining at to DTD then transfer to the bus for the resort you are staying at. Also if any of the parks are open late (EMH) on the nights you dine at a particular resort you can take a bus to that park and then switch to a bus to your resort. If there is a MNSSHP party at MK on any of those nights the buses to & from MK will be running until 1AM so you can go there & switch to your resort bus.

Awesome! That works perfectly! I was VERY worried about ending up
stuck at a resort due to no busses but if the busses run till 2AM from DTD
then a 9pm dinner ressie is no biggie at all...

although I am a little worried that with the clubs closing they may pull those
late busses back. I am going durring February after all these changes take
effect so I'll just have to see and pray for the busses to keep running!

All in All, it seems like I should be able to easily enjoy dinner at other resorts!

Thanks!

Okay...it can be tough getting to resort meals. The best advice I can give you is to book your ADRs at resorts at times that make it possible to get there, and back, from a nearby park. For instance....if you want to book a meal at the GF, you would take a bus from your resort to the MK. There you can take either the monorail (longer than the boat usually) or the small boat that runs between the MK, GF, and Poly. If the park is still open when you are done eating, it's easy...just go back to MK and hop on the resort bus back to your resort.
For HDDR, you should be able to take the boat from MK to FtW. It drops you at a dock that is just a short walk to Pioneer Hall. After the last show there should be buses running to groups of resorts. It's not going to be quick, but you will get back to your resort.
So, head to a park and then transfer to a resort bus (or boat/monorail) that will get you to the resort you need to get to.

If the parks are closed or just the one you needed to use, you can take the bus from the resort to DTD and then transfer to your resort bus. Not quick but doable.

Let's see...Yachtsman...take the bus to DHS and then either walk or take the boat to the YC.
Californian Grill....bus to MK, either walk or take the monorail to CR.

'Ohana...bus to MK and boat or monorail to Polynesian.
Same thing for GF.
Be aware that there are buses running to the parks as early as 6:15ish. They are there expressly for the use of the guests that need to get to early morning ADRs.
Any other questions...just ask.

6:15?? Really!? Wow! THAT I had no idea about... that is PERFECT so I can make it to an early breakfast! This is AMAZING News!

And... I DID infact find another question...

I can still do the ADR's myself even if my family uses a TA to book the hotel and everything correct? I just need the hotel conformation number thing to prove we have the DDP?

Thnks!

You really don't need to 'prove' that you have the DDP. They will ask you if you are on a dining plan. You just answer yes or no. You can give them your reservation number if you wish and they ask for it.
But you are good to go as far as booking your own ADRs. I do that all the time when I use DU. Drives my agent nuts...she makes my resort reservation and then I get all antsy and get on the phone and make my own ADRs. Have to tell her so she can add them to my itinerary, but that isn't going to be the case with everyone else. That's just how DU handles it.
