I know most would take the bus, but we will have four young ones in tow - - 8 yo DS, 4yo DD, and 1 yo twins, so with all the associated baggage I would like to avoid the bus. Would you recommend driving or boat to Epcot and monorail, or any other suggestions. We'll be checking in Sunday. Regards.

We always rent a car, but MK is the one park we will never drive to. First off, I know my way around property pretty well, but for some reason I always get lost leaving the MK parking lot. Second, even though you think it might be a hassel getting on the bus with children, the good thing is it drops you off right in front of the park. When you drive your car, you still have to get on the tram, which to me is a bigger hassel that the bus. Hope this helps, have fun. :earsgirl:

We have 4 kids and also avoid the buses like the plague ...

We have done both (drive and Monorail). The walk over to the Monorail is about 15-20 minutes from the Boardwalk area. It's long, but its a pleasant walk. We tend to go this route at least once because the kids consider the Monorail to be part of the fun. However, the total time it takes to get over to the Magic Kingdom is about 45 minutes.

Driving is also a lengthy proposition, unless you go early in the morning. The problem is that the MK lot is so big and so far from the actual park. If you are there early (before park opening), you'll park up front, walk over to the TTC, pick up the MK Monorail and be at the park rather quickly. If you go later, you'll park far out in the lot, have to manage the Disney Tram, and then ride the tram over to the Monorail.

Let's hope that Disney sees the light and expands the Monorail line through the Epcot Resorts area in the coming years.

Enjoy your trip.

Early morning is key...As Jeffport said, getting into the lot early at TTC can save a bunch of time. This is why we schedule a character breakfast at Crystal Palace early, drive over and park in the fron row and get into the park before "opening". We get to enjoy the monorail, avoid the traffic, and savor the early morning walkt down Main Street. You can get into MK in about 30 minutes going this route.

Even with 4 kids and the associated baggage, I think the bus is your best bet.

The walk from BWV to the Epcot Monorail is just about a mile and will definitely take awhile with the kids. Then you have to pack everything, get on the monorail, and also transfer monorails at the TTC to get the monorail that goes to MK.

If you take the bus, you do everything just once.

Yep, we agree with the early morning drive to MK. If you are going to EMH or and early PS, driving works great. Front row parking. No tram. And the kids get to ride the monorail!

I think the bus would be your best bet, since it drops you off directly at the park gate, and you avoid the TTC which involves transfering everything. But if you want to avoid the bus, driving is better than the taking the boat and then walking through EPCOT, and then taking the monorail to the TTC, and then taking the monorail or the ferry to the MK (thats a long trip with little ones) :mickeybar

the bus - besides your age group will consider it a treat -

this way both of you (you and your spouse) can watch the kids. if you drive someone has to do that....

believe me other people on the bus expect kids to be kids. they won't get in trouble - if you are afraid - just make them go to the back - there are seats in the back of the bus where all 4 children can sit together and your seats (next to) can watch them.

Bus! We have 3 kids (5,5, and 2) and had no problem with the bus. I always look at it as, how many times do I need to fold up the stroller? Once to get on the bus. Or, once to get in the car, once for the tram, possible once for the monorail. Plus, though its a great idea to get to the MK lot extra early, is that really feasible with 4 kids? We don't mind the bus at all from BWV.

I agree about the bus. I have 3 young children and we found the bus to be our best bet to MK. Even if you drive you still need to take the tram and either ferry or monorail. At least with the bus it is only getting on and off once, and it leaves you right at the front gate.

We've done the boat to Epcot and walked all the way to the front of the park for the monorail -- long and lengthy unless it's just the two of you. The easiers from BWV to MK is definitely the bus. Have a great time

Just when I thought I had figured out which threads belong on which DVC board . . . The FAQs for the DVC Forum states:

The DVC Community Board is available to share congratulations, DVC resort trip reports, trip countdowns and other such member-to-member comment and discussion.

If you have questions about other WDW resorts, restaurants, weather, crowds and other non-DVC related information, please post those on the appropriate boards.(Resorts, Restaurants, Trip Planning, Rumors, Budget, etc.). If you have question/comment about non-Disney topics, please post those on the DIS Community Board.

I'm a bit confused re why this thread regarding best transportation method from a DVC resort was moved to the Community Board?
