We are not really planning on riding ROTR. We have FP for AS2 from 10:50 to 11:50 and MMRR from 12:45 to 1:45. I also have Star Tours at 9:15 to 10:15 but could switch it to around 2:00. We want to walk around SWGE and maybe some of the grownups try the single rider line for MFSR if it's not too long. We also want to take our kids 10 and 7 to some shows and muppets 3D (which I know don't start until 10:00 anyway). We're not interested in TOT, TSMM, or RNRC. I might also try to snag a SDD if they are any FP drops after we finish ours. Does getting there around 11:00 make more sense for us? Do the crowds thin a little as the day goes on?

I don’t have any experience to offer, but we will be doing the same on our H.S. day. We will have FP+ for the rides the kids want, everything else they are indifferent to. We more want to explore and take our time. I’d be interested to know about the crowds as well.

I have no experience in HS since last year, but I saw data somewhere that seemed to show that the crowds started to get (a little less) around 4pm. The crowds at opening seem awful!!

We're doing one day where we show up at opening and attempt to compete in the ROTR lottery, than we're cutting our Epcot day short to go back and poke around after lunch and use another set of FPs. It's just a hard park to plan for right now.

Yeah what I've seen opening is now almost the worst part of the day and the longer the hours the better the last few hours have been. Looks like a lot of people after doing there boarding groups and being at Park all day waiting leave early

The park stays very crowded while everyone who was in at rope drop wait for their boarding group to be called. We found single rider for MFSM to be a good option but you don’t get a choice on your role. Also SDD wait time in inflated in the last hour

Also wondering the same thing for our trip in 2 weeks!
It’s just so crazy at rope drop!!!

Thankfully we have park hoppers so we are planning on hopping over HS after our Epcot Day (we will be staying at Boardwalk)

On Wednesday we were able to ride MFSR 3 times, longest wait was about 45 minutes (posted 55, but was shorter). The afternoon really cleared out a lot as people took mid day breaks or left after riding RotR.
