Hi all,
How does one get to Florida Mall from WDW? Going to be there in a few months and intend to take the Lynx bus service. Can anyone help? Thank you!

We really like the Lynx buses, but that is one trip we attempted once and will never do again. Essentially you have to use Lynx 50 from either DTD or TTC and go all the way to Downtown Orlando Bus Station and change there. All in all it took us about 3 hours.

 :scared1:

3 hours!! That's way too long! I wonder how much it will cost to take a cab there.?? Anyone has any idea? :confused3

Does anyone know of a way to get from WDW to Florida Mall without having to spend 3 hours on the Lynx buses like dolphingirl did?? How much does it cost to hire a taxi?

For what it’s worth I did a quick route plan and it looks like it is 14.8 miles from the Boardwalk resort to the mall. The estimated drive time is 20 minutes which will depend on the day and time you travel. Hopefully you can estimate a cab fare with the info.

The Mall at Millennia is a pretty amazing place if you are looking for a mall. From the Boardwalk to that mall is 14.9 miles and is estimated at 18 minutes.

Both malls are in the same general direction from Disney (North East) and are 5 miles apart.

We have went from DTD to Florida Mall using the lynx buses :yay: .

We took the bus from our resort to DTD and got on the 50 lynx bus (just across the road from the World of Disney shop). Got of the 50 at Sea World and then got on the number 8 lynx bus (or you can also use the i-hop) to get to I-Drive, then change again onto the number 42 which takes you straight to Florida Mall :rotfl: .

We stopped of on the way and had breakfast popcorn:: and then had dinner popcorn:: on the way back to break up the journey a bit - to be honest we were lucky with the buses and never had long to wait at any of the stops.

There was 7 of us in our party so we would have needed two taxis so we saved money just using or lynx weekly ticket (we bought this online and had it posted to us before we left home)

Happy shopping........:rainbow: .

Like other have said taking the Lynx all the way to the florida mall could be a bit rough. If you just want to get some shopping in though I would check out the prime outlets, near DTD just on the other side of I-4. I don't know if you are familiar with them or not but I think they are a pretty good deal. Not like the 150 other tourist trap outlets around orlando, even as a local I like to do my shopping there. Downside is they are open air to depending on the time of year you could be pretty hot or getting rained on.

Thanks guys! Yeah, I also intend to do some shopping at the Prime Outlets as well. Planning a rest day from the parks and heading to the Prime Outlet.

bob6sims,
How long did it take for you and your party to travel to Florida Mall? Excluding lunch and dinner... Thanks. Trying to see if this is possble for me. We'll be battling jet-lag and such.

Depending on what you're looking for the Florida Mall has Nordstrom's and Saks and the Millenia Mall has Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdales.

Thanks for the advice! Now, I'm considering hiring a car just for that 1 day which we plan to SHOP, SHOP and SHOP. I believe there is also a Target store not far from Florida Mall. Like on the other side of the road. We're staying in WDW itself and there are car rental places at the hotels in Downtown Disney. This may probably be a useful thing for me! :)

I dont know about the buses/taxis because we drive there.....but you'll have a great time shopping! We've been to the Prime Outlets, the Florida Mall, and the Mall at Millennia. We're not really fans of the Mall at Millennia......mostly "uppity" very expensive stores. We're not very "uppity" LOL!! I want a bargain! Seriously, we walked the entire legnth of the mall without entering one store.

If you've never been to Ikea before, that's a really neat shopping place. They just opened one in Orlando at the end of last year. I've been once and I sooooooo loved it! We're going back when we go down in October.

Ikea! Love it. There are 2 Ikea stores about 20-25mins from i live.
Choosing to visit Florida Mall coz I cannot afford to shop to at Millennia. Maybe someday... But for now, it's just wishful thinking. So, not wasting my time. I just hope driving to Florida Mall from Downtown Disney and then back again isn't too difficult.
Also, if anyone can enlighten me... When a car rental company offers Free Pick-Up service, does that mean they send a shuttle to pick us up from our hotel to where they are located? Will they also send us back to the hotel after we have returned the car?

I know Enterprise does this, they have picked us up before but it wasn't in Orlando. In order to avoid any surprises the best thing to do is ask specifically at whatever place you are trying to rent from: I'm staying here, I want to use a car for a day, will you pick me up and drop me off? Long distance calling is pretty cheap nowadays and a lot of the places even have toll free numbers, go to the source and find out.

I'm doing the same thing...you can rent a car for a day at the Disney Car Care centre or Swan & Dolphin resort. They use Alamo & National, and will send a shuttle to your resort to pick you up, and will drop you off afterwards as well.

I would estimate that it took us about 1.5 hours :rotfl: .
Hotel to DTD - 20 mins
DTD to Sea World - 10 mins
Sea World to I Drive - 5 mins
I Drive to FM - 30 mins
estimated 25 mins overall waiting time between the different stops whihc is maybe a bit generous.
You could maybe get a taxi between DTD and I Drive to save some time (the longest wait we had was at DTD but it just depends on when the bus is due). I did feel it was worth the effort as the kids had a great day shopping there - and me too :yay:
Happy shopping :woohoo:

Hi... we took a cab from the Sheraton Safari [1/8 mile away from Disney entrance gate] to the Florida Mall... cost us about $ 28, if i remember correctly... but then we were fortunate to have a great cab driver, Mo... drove a yellow cab, but was on call, so he would pick us up from the Sheraton whenever we called, wherever we wanted to go... we trusted him to take the shortest & best route…
Also, there is a Mears site... i can't post the name on dis, but if you google ‘Orlando+Mears+Taxi+Fare+Calculator’ is shall give you approximate fares to Florida Mall from various places... MK to Mall is showing as $ 47...
Hope this helps...
PS: We LOVED the mall... or atleast, i did... not so sure about DH
