Getting to Epcot NYE

Hi DIS friends! This is my 1st trip over New Years and I have read about some long transportation times (2-3 hours via Disney busses) to Epcot on NYE with all the traffic. We are hoping to go after lunchtime as my mom will have enough trouble with a 12 hr park day, so a 16+ hr by going at rope drop is not realistic. We are staying at Kidani. Since we are so close to AK, I was thinking it would be a better commute to take the bus to AK, then pick up the resort bus to Beach Club and enter thru the back of the park. Thoughts? Other ideas? It's a decision I would make in the moment based on lines at the resort. Definitely a creative solution, but I'm not sure that adding a bus change and an extra line will really save you any time. It's going to be crazy all over. Keep in mind that, no matter what you do, you're going to have to face the mass exodus after the park closes after midnight. You won't have this same option in reverse because, I think, AK will be long closed. My best advice is to find a comfy place to sit for an hour it so after fireworks and let the park clear out.

That sounds like a pretty smart idea to me. It took us two and a half hours to get frim the Contemporary through the gates at Epcot last year.

Yes it would be an extra line going to AK first... I guess my thought was that getting thru the gates there would be easier than at the other 3 parks since it's not so much a NYE destination. Will the traffic snarls be as bad in the resort areas as the actual parks?

Thanks for the reminder about the mass exodus afterward. I was expecting that as well, and figured we would hang out a while after to allow the rush pass us by a bit.
