Oh Yes, the walk is quite doable. I would not want to mess with a car myself, unless you have other considerations, like excessive shopping that needs to be done, small children with no stroller, impaired mobility, etc. Or if you want to buy something that would not go through security.
You will just go through the Esplanade between the two parks, and you will be there. It takes about 10 minutes to walk from one end to the other of DTD. The monorail is located at the far end, which is near the Disney Hotel. If you jump on the monorail, it will take you into DL to Tomorrowland, and those are the only two stops.
While it is technically transportation, we always like to be sure and have a ride, so we consider it an attraction in my family
We walked from Hojo's to DTD everyday on our last trip and it's an easy walk even with 3 kids. Personally, I think a car would be more trouble than walking.
Have fun!
It's just like walking to the parks only a tad farther because the parks are on the other side of the HoJo. YOu can't take the monorail, there is no station over by the HoJo.

Am now picturing taking a flying leap across harbor, Mission Impossible music, some sort of rapelling device, hanging from the monorail as it moves along....
Just do NOT wear "cute" shoes for the walk! My feet are still paying for walking to PPH from HoJo in brand new heels. And that was in May.
