Hi all. I am in town for the week at a convention and want to go to downtown disney. The hotel offers shuttle service but only at 11:15 and 3:15. I need to go later. I know I can pay but I want to do this as cheaply as possible. The hotel also offers service to all of the other Disney parks at 1-2 hour intervals. I read on the forum that cannot go directly from a park to DTD, need to go to a resort first. This is what I was thinking: shuttle from my hotel to the TTC where it drops off for MK. Then I was going to take Disney transportation to one of the resorts that ferry to DTD (Port Orleans, Key West, Saratoga Springs). Good plan or is there a better way I do not know of?

If there is bus service from your hotel to the TTC, you could just walk over to the Polynesian and then take a bus to DTD. But are you sure the hotel shuttle drop off is the TTC? A lot of buses serving MK actually take you right up to the MK. In that case, you could take another bus going to Saratoga Springs Resort and just walk over to adjacent DTD.

But you're going WAY out of the way and eating up a lot of time. And you'd have to do the reverse to get back. Gaylord is so close to DTD. A taxi wouldn't be all that expensive if you got dropped off on the West Side by Cirque.

PP had two good suggestions. Taxi and direct bus from POLY (walk from TTC to POLY).

I'd just take a bus to EPCOT or DHS. Take a Disney bus to SSR and then walk to DTD.

The problem is that since you get dropped off at the TTC you would still have to go to the front of MK to get to those hotels, Port Orleans, Key West, Saratoga Springs. ( 3 hops TTC -> MK -> PO -> DTD)

Much easier as others have posted to walk to Poly and get the bus there or resort monorail to any monorail resort and catch the DTD bus there. It will eliminate one transfer. (2 hops TTC -> POLY -> DTD)

Check when you arrive. It's possible your convention will be arranging for additional transportation. Also possible a fellow attendee will be going to DTD when you want to go. He might have a car or you might split a taxi.

Look at the map. Using the MK, AK and even DHS means going out of the way. You'll be wasting a lot of time. EPCOT sort of works.

Do you really a 10 minute drive becoming a 90 minute project?

You want cheap? Take Disney transportation to/from POP then take a taxi between GP and POP.

I agree with Lewisc, do you really want to spend at least 90 minutes for a trip that should take no more than 10 minutes. And don't forget you will have to do it all over again to get back to Gaylord Palms.
I guess if you don't mind wasting a lot of your time waiting for and riding buses then go for it.
Again as Lewisc said at least take a cab from GP to Pop and use Disney Transportation from there to go wherever you want. It's a 3 mile trip, 5 minutes and less than a $10 cab fare.
Return to Pop and cab back to GP.
