I take it you can't use the usual Disney DtD bus because of the luggage?
If that's the case is there another service or is a taxi required?

We had to get a taxi last year when we stayed at Coronado Springs. It wasn't that expensive and Bell Services organised it for us :)

We got a taxi from OKW and they came right up to the room and picked us and bags up. There was only three of us but we had two cases each and hand luggage so we ordered a mini bus:thumbsup2

We had a taxi from the Dolphin to DTD and I think it was no more than $20 including tip.

Best to get there early to avoid the lines - downside of this is none of the shops are open LOL

can you use virgin dtd check in if you have booked a flydrive with them and are staying off site?

hi all...

Sorry this is all new to me as it will be our 1st time to DW, So we are flying with Virgin also and you can check in for your return flights at DTD ???

How does this work ? Do you then have to transport yourself and luggage to the airport ? Is there much of a benefit doing it at DTD ???

Cheers all....

you dont have to check in at dtd its up to you, we normally do as it means you can spend longer in the parks or whatever you do on the alst day.

We hire a car so we just drive there in the morning, if your not booked a package with virgin holidays its $10 a person to use the check in, the print the boarding passes etc there and take your bags so you just turn up at the airport with your hand luggage

I would suggest double-checking that the DTD check-in is operating on the day you wish to use it. We got a minivan to transport us and all our luggage from our hotel in LBV only to be turned away curbside by Virgin staff. :sad2:

They decided not to open that day but chose not to inform passengers that the service would not be available. :guilty: I'm sure you can imagine how annoyed we were having to turn around and head back to the hotel to sit there looking at our cases for 6 hours!!! :scared: :crazy2:

i've only ever had it not working when its really bad weather

So you basically check in there ( Virgin DTD ) , check all your luggage with them , get your boarding cards then just turn up at the airport in time for your flight ??? ( how long to you need to be at the airport before your flight)

That sounds to easy ? Is it like hell on earth though ???

cheers :thumbsup2

we get there when it opens and there is normally around 2/3 people in front. We get to the airport around 2 hours before we fly as I'm a nervous flyer and to make sure the car is back in time, so much easier than checking in at the airport, had to do this last year as we were flying to mexico and it was not nice

thank you all for the response!! :thumbsup2

I think it will be good too as someone on here said that if the flight is delayed they can tell you at DTD and you don't end up spending the delay in the airport you can do it in MK or somewhere!! bonus!

It really is that easy. I have used it 5 times & never waited longer than 20 mins. Just to get rid of the cases mkaes it worth while for me.

We get to the airport approx 2 hours before as I panic about missing the flight, we usually get something to eat at the airport as I don't eat plane food.

The day we tried to do the check-in, it was a beautiful morning. As we approached, I was really pleased with myself as there was no queue, turned out there was a reason for that! :rotfl2: Maybe they were having some technical problems, but an explanation would've been appreciated. :upsidedow

Hiya
Sorry to butt in on thread, but where exactly at DTD is the check in?
Many Thanks
Ali

It's behind Cirque du Soleil in DTD West Side in the car park you can't miss the canopy where they take all your info and the huge waggons they use to transport your cases:thumbsup2

we have done dtd check in twice, we had the character breakfast at the grand floridian first, then checked in, very easy to do. bus left at 4.30pm. leaves you most of the day to do something other than being at the airport

We did this last time:thumbsup2 We prepaid it with VH and it was named the Departure Day Breakfast they picked us up at the hotel and another couple of locations then took us to DTD very early where we checked in and got the luggage on the wagon. From there we caught the same bus and they took us to 1900 Park Fare for a wonderful breakfast with the characters. DH couldn't resist telling Alice we live very close to where the books about her were written (on a little farm at Croft ). She was amazed:rotfl: DS had a photo taken with Mary Poppins on her knee. After breakfast they asked where people wanted to be dropped off we picked DTD they gave us a time to meet the bus to the airport outside Cirque and then we did some shopping and watched a movie at the big cinema. Then we had time for lunch and caught the bus to the airport at the agreed time. A great way to spend your last few precious hours in WDW. If we were to do it again we would probably go to a park after breakfast and get some last rides in:wave2:
