Getting to DLRP from the north east

Hello, just wondering how people from the north-east of England travel to DLRP? I'm looking to go this September and looking at my options. EasyJet fly from Newcastle but the flight times don't look great, Jet2 fly from Leeds-Bradford and their flight times seems better (travel time wise I'm pretty much in the middle of these two airports I think). The price I'm getting up is just under £200 for myself and my 5yo, is this reasonable? It seems it, but I'm presuming flight prices go up as time goes on and I'd be best booking now.

The other option is train down to Kings Cross and then from St Pancras I suppose, I'm not sure that there would be enough of a price difference (if any!) to compensate for the extra traveling time (accompanied by a 5yo who doesn't stop talking under normal circumstances nevermind when on her way to DLRP!) though. Although I would have to factor in the cost of leaving my car at Leeds-Bradford I suppose, which I have no idea of.

I did vaguley consider driving (daughter is quite good in the car and usually has a sleep) :confused3 but I'm not sure it's my best idea ever.

As you can see I'm slightly confused, so any advice/experiences from other people travelling from the NE would be appreciated!

Hi *Briar_Rose* . Elaine, Jackie, Elaine and Reid welcome to DLP DIS board :wave2:

We are a friendly bunch here so please join in on any other thread or if you have a number of questions then just start a new thread for each :goodvibes

If you have not had a look yet, DLP posting rules are here, DIS posting guidelines can be found here.

We drive from further afield, but hopefully others can let you know of their choices :))

Hiya, thanks for the welcome Reid. Gemma I'm living in Middlesbrough atm, not my home town though, I'm from Sunderland orginally.

Hi, we live near Durham and have agonised over this every time we've been. After comparing prices of flights/parking/travel to pointof departure/etc we use Easyjet from Newcastle.

Yes, the flight times are rubbish now that they have rejigged them for the extra routes, but we still think its the easiest and most cost-effective option for a short Paris break or our annual DLP holiday.

This year we are taking advantage of the 4N/5D for the price of 3N/4D ... we wont get to the parks until about 8:30 pm, but thats our free night - we then get full days in the parks for the rest of the holiday.

Do Air France not fly from Newcastle? We've found they have a great selection of flight times and are pretty reasonably priced. It's around £500 usually for the 5 of us (that's everything and no hidden charges for luggage etc) one of which is an infant (and we fly from Edinburgh), but when we looked at Easyjet we would be losing our first and last day in the parks, so figured the slightly higher price was well worth it.

Air France do fly from Newcastle and if you look on expedia you can often get some really good deals if you book a package - especially at the dreamcastle I have noticed.

I am from Newcastle and have done all three - flown with easyjet, airfrance and used the eurostar.

With children I would just fly from Newcastle - airfrance does have much better flight times than Easyjet (I think they fly up to 4 times a day) and you get reserved seats and avoid the cattle crush to get a seat.

I would highly recomend using the TGV train to goet DLRP from the Charles de Gaulle (only takes 10mins!) then the 45 mins + VEA shuttle bus.

Let me know if you ahve any more questions :) .

I live about 20 mins away from Middlesborough (North on the A19) and both times we have gone we have flown Easyjet flight times are pretty poor but if you book them early enough the cost saving compared to Air France is massive. We always use RS Transport between CDG and Hotel as just makes things easier, someone meets you off the plane and takes you straight to hotel and vice versa.

Hope this helps, anymore questions and you have come to right place.

steve

Yes, Air France fly from Newcastle but I wouldnt use them again. The price difference is massive and far outweighs the convenience of the flight times.

Our booking for October with Easyjet (4 adults return, 2 hold bags) is £238. Checking the Air France website, the cheapest (ECO) price for the same days is £738 and the flight is actually operated by Brit Air. Spookily that's exactly £500 difference, 3 times more than Easyjet.
