I just made our priority seating for chef mickeys. We will be at MK that day and I need to know how we get from MK to Chef Mickeys. 1st trip and totally clueless!
Thanks

We took the monorail which was very convenient as it is the first stop after MK. Or depending on the time of year and whether you like strolling, we found the Contemporary to be a pleasant 5 min walk from the MK. Of course we needed a little extra time because our kids got a kick out of reading the inscriptions on the stone path that connects these two locations! :smooth:

Thought I should mention (in case you did not know) that Chef Mickey's is inside the Contemporary Hotel (the one where the monorail drives through). As the previous poster said you can take the monorail form the Magic Kingdom to the Contemporary. From the monorail platform you can see Chef Mickey's on the lower level. You can also take the short walk from the Magic Kingdom to the hotel.

Thank you. We will probably take the monorail just for the experience. Just need to know how much time to allot ourselves to get there. It will be March 22 and our seating is at 11:00. What time should we get on the monorail?

I would allow 20 minutes just to not be rushed and be able to check-in the recommend 15 minutes before a PS.

The monorail shouldn't be crowded as the vast majority of people are making their way into MK and not out of it.

Just make sure you take the resort line on the monorail. If you take the express monorail to the TTC it buzzes right thru and doesn't stop at the Contemporary.

Enjoy Chef Mickey's its a great character meal

Walking to the Contemporary from MK only takes 5 mins or so. If you see a line at the monorail, then walk. It'll be faster and quite enjoyable too. You can always take the monorail back to MK after Chef Mickey's

Okay, I note that this is your first trip to WDW, so I thought I would add this: since you want to take the monorail, when you exit the MK, head to your right up to the monorail platform. There are two monorail tracks and they are clearly marked. Like ncgolfer said, don't take the line to the TCC, but take the resort line. Since you plan to do this on 3/22, note that this week will be relatively crazy at WDW due to Spring Breaks across the country, and because that week leads into Easter. Despite that, you should not encounter huge crowds for the resort monorail leaving the MK shortly before 11:00 am. The monorail circles the GF, Poly and CR quite quickly and regularily. If you exit the MK 15 min before you want to arrive at CR, you should be fine. BTW, if you decide to walk, head left when you exit the MK and follow the walking path to the CR.

Thank you so much for the detailed help. One more question. If we leave for our charcter meal, is there a chance the park will be too crowded and we wont get back in? This just occurred to me. Not that we would give up our PS, just wondering if we need a back up plan for the day. I was hoping we wouldnt have a problem since its a Tuesday and not on the weekend.

I doubt that on a Tuesday you would find the park closed due to reaching capacity.
Have a great time!

You didnt say if you were going with children or not. If you are you can request to be in the front car and be the condutor! My 8 yr old son loved this!

If you are staying on property and have to take a bus over, I recommend 1 hour 15 minutes early. I left 45 minutes early thinking I would make my 11:05 and got there at 11:20. One of the resort monorails was stuck and delayed us 15 minutes :earseek: At least CM was very understanding in my situation and was sat by 11:30. Enjoy, this is one of our favorites!! I will also mention with a late breakfast, none of my family even eanted to eat dinner after CM because we were fed so well. Just had a couple of walk and eat snacks at night. Believe that?!?!?! My crew?!?!?! So it is well worth the money here. . . . .ENJOY!!! :wizard:

The only days I've heard of MK closing are around Christmas and other big holidays. There could be a problem Easter Sunday or the day before, but you shouldn't have any problems on that Tuesday. I've heard the worst crowds are the week after Easter and not the week before. We are going March 17-22 and hoping for reasonable crowds. We are actually checking out of the Contemporary on the day of your CM meal--look for a very sad family of 4. We hate to leave Disney World.

Thanks. That day will be our last full day at Disney so we will be the sad ones the next day as well. That will be our, Magic Kingdom, character meal, and enjoy everything else we can, day before we leave. Our dd is 5 so we figured we would save the MK for the last day because we know that will be her favorite park.

One tip: consider asking for an up-front-with-the-driver ride on the monorail after your meal!!!

-----

On our trip in early Dec. We had an 11:20 "breakfast" PS at Chef Mickey's. We left the MK around 10:50 am and took the resort monorail to the contemporary.

THEN, after the meal, when the crowds were pretty light on the monorail, we asked the monorail driver if we could ride up front.

I had heard that this was only available on the resort monorail line ~ and that the best chance of getting it was around lunch time.

Sure enough, he said YES ~ though we had to wait a few minutes for the one that was there to leave and the next one to come.

You ride up front from the Contemporary, to the Polynesian and Grand Floridian and then you can get off at the MK (Or finish the "loop" and ride back to the Contemporary).

It was great fun and gave us lots of cool pictures! :flower1:

Take the monorail from MK to the Contemporary. It goes straight there. Have fun and say hi to Mickey for us!!
