Getting stuck on POTC is not fun!

My family and I got stuck on POTC last Wednesday for 50 minutes! I used to get a kick out of being stuck on rides/walked off rides but this time it was a little different. All the other rides I've been stuck on have been pretty easy to get off but this was definitely not. Also, my 3 year old son was with us and he's really only been potty trained for a few months. I was soooo nervous he was going to announce he had to use the potty but luckily he didn't! But boy talk about anxiety! Our boat was stuck right by the Pirate sitting in the mud with the pig. I was sooo thankful we weren't in the tunnel. That would have been a nightmare with DS. I'm honestly surprised at how long it took them to get us off the ride but at the same time I was impressed with how most of the CM's handled the situation. And I'll spend weeks trying to figure out how we ended up where we did when they got us off the ride! POTC was my favorite ride up until last week. It will probably be awhile before I'll get on it again. You can only hear that song so many times before you start to hate it :rotfl2:

I have yet to get stuck on a ride, but I hope that I do sometime just for the experience, lol.

I often wonder how they get guests off of the boats mid-ride when there's a ride evacuation. If you can, please share the details of how you were taken off your boat and escorted out :)

We were one of the last 3 or 4 boats to be evacuated. Basically after they had evacuated enough boats behind us so that there was room to move our boat, a Cast Member wearing waders got in the water and pushed our boat back to an area where we were able to step out. It was interesting for sure.

These fan made blueprints might help you :goodvibes

In particular:
NOS Main Floor
NOS Grotto Level
POTC Fire Scene (#16 drunken pirate with pigs)

Thank you sooo much!!!!

We were stuck on iasw for an hour and a half. Se thing we had to be pushed back to somewhere where we could walk off and were evacuate behind toon town. Not fun with an 18 month old and I was 30 weeks pregnant and the evacuation involved about 6000 flights of stairs!

After having spent 20+ minutes trapped at the top of MFW, I know what you mean. Talk about being grateful we were in a stationary car!! They finally got it moving enough to unload us before closing it for the rest of the day - we all wondered how we might be evacuated if they hadn't been able to.

I don't blame you at all for not wanting to get on it for a long time. Neat story to tell though!

That sounds miserable!

The two places I wouldn't want to be stuck would be the obvious, which is upside down on Screamin and something that seems innocuous, which is in that packed elevator on HM.

lovebug33….this is seriously hideous!!!!!

It's bad enough to be stuck on an attraction, but the fact that you were pregnant AND wrangling an 18 month old, just makes me cringe!

Add in the stairs, and I probably would have had a nervous break down(if I hadn't already!!!)

kirstie101…..I can't believe your DS did not have to use the bathroom(I would have!) What a blessing!

ronandannette….I think I would have had a panic attack---with the PPs being stuck on the ground(or water;)), I might have been able to handle one of those, but up in the air??? UGH!!!!:sad2:

Wow that sounds like terrible ordeal! I have a 3yrold DS I'm taking in sept. And the thought of this makes me cringe. He would be trying to jump out of the boat! How did you manage? And does Disney compensate for your time or inconvenience at all?

They did offer a stretcher and fire fighters to get me out. I declined but did let them push me in the wheelchair once we got out of the stairs.

i've have never been stuck on a ride, but i always keep thinking that if i get stuck on space mountain i would close my eyes in fear they will turn the lights on and my whole life gets spoiled.

DH and I were fine, although it did seem like a loooong 20 minutes. We were sharing the car with a pair of young teens and the little girl was pretty close to losing it by the time we finally started moving. They only spoke Spanish between themselves (which we do not understand) so I'm not sure if our efforts to be comforting were helpful or not.

That sounds like a long time to be stuck!
We were stuck for 20 minutes at the base of the big climb for Splash Mountain. We had to hear the poor tale of the rabbit over and over again!!

I love getting stuck! Luckily none have been in circumstances where me or my family we uncomfortable! My DD then 5, and I, got stuck at the top of Gooofy's in DCA. The ride just glided and stopped in a perfect place for each car to get out. But, we were at the top, so were told to stay seated and we would be helped soon. After 30 or so minutes, after CMs evacuated all the cars, we were second to last at the top. I'm 5'9", and it was a good drop from the car to the platform, 2 CMs insisted on helping all 4 of us out, and they said they had to help out my DD for safety. We walked down and around a ton of stairs. We did get a FP to be used on any DCA ride so we chose TSMM for walk-on appeal.

We got stuck on monsters in ride near the beginning of the ride another trip. They simply stopped all animatronics, turned on all the lights and walked us thru the entire ride. Neat, but takes away the magic a bit for the little kids! We got nothing other than a come back later for that breakdown. They did ask us to put down all cameras.

I think we just got lucky with him. The first 30 minutes he was content to talk with us and just hang out (Grandma, DD7, DH and I were all on the boat.) Grandma fed him tic-tacs which he thinks are great. The last 20 minutes we played videos on our phones for him. He didn't actually cry until the last 5 minutes. And he's my clingy child so when they disney folks insisted they be the ones to help him off the boat he flipped. So he looked really upset as we were being walked off the ride when in reality it hadn't been that bad for him until the very end. We were given a fast pass for any one ride except RSR. Not that I think that makes up for the situation but what else can they do I guess.

Ah yes, my first ride I got stuck on was space mountain and they did turn on the lights to walk us off. And yes it will change the way you view the ride but it was still really cool to see!
